“Nice hotel about 10 minutes from the ski lift”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

This is my second visit to the Belmont and it hasn't changed a bit. The rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable although no bath just a shower. The food is no different from any other hotel in bulgaria, edible . The spa has a steam room sauna and a swimming pool which is always to cold ( like all pools in bulgaria ) it also has its own bowling alley and nightclub which are never busy. Not many English nationals seem to stay here and the staff do speak limited English. The hotel is set in the forest just outside the resort and runs a mini bus service to lift stations 1 and 2. If you want to go out in the evening a taxi will cost you 10 lev ( £5) each way but to be honest the après ski in Pamporovo is limited. If you want that then go to borovets.Pamporovo is very quiet which is why i go there.
But be warned, if you have a serious accident don't let them take you to the local hospital. I had a serous injury and was taken there and no one speaks English and they have no medication, it was the worst experience of my life. Lets just say I absconded because I feared for my safety. The nearest descent hospital is in Plovdiv, about 80 miles away. But who knows what that is like. It is bulgaria.
The skiing is good in Pamporovo for beginners, experts would get bored very easily as there are only 2 black runs and about 5 red runs but i Must say, when the snow is good they do preparer the runs very well ( in my opinion better than austria ) , the ski pass is cheap and it never feels busy ( apart from school holidays) plus its cheap to eat and drink on the mountain. Any questions, feel free to ask.

I stayed in this hotel with my friend. We liked our room very much, it was warm, comfortable with good big beds and nice view from the window. also we were impressed by glass lift with good view also. the room was cleaned regularly. in general hotel is beautifully decorated and it is nice to walk through it.
we visited swimming pool and gym, swimming pool is not big and it's difficult to enjoy swimming, but enough for some relaxation in water. gym is well equiped.
breakfast was good with wide range of different food, bulgarian yogurt and fresh fruits. other meals weren't included, and we had supper only once. restraunt was nice but we were nearly the only visitors and felt lonely:)
the worst part was that the hotel is far from town and road is very uncomfortable in evening. some places are even dangerous for walkers. what touches upon taxi it costs surprisingly much. then we learnt that it is possible to make arrangement in some local restaurants and they even give a ride from hotel and back.
and there was also bad moment when we left hotel, cause receptionist tryed to make us pay for some alcohol from mini-bar, which we didn't use at all. that's why we didn't noticed that one bottle was open. but after some quarrel she believed us and let go.

Me and my family (of two children and my husband) stayed in the Belmont Hotel Pamporovo January 2011. We enjoyed are stay and feel quite sorry for the Hotel as most of the reveiws are unfair and horrible!

The cleaniness of the hotel was very good as they cleaned the rooms everyday and all of the
hotel was spotless. The swimming pool was very clean also but we didn't go for a proper swim because it was very chilly. There is a bowling alley but we did not go on it because we found it was too expensive and we didn't have time for it anyway! There is a bar downstairs which is very nice and prices where reasonable. We didn't go in the spa either.

The food was nice and there was quite a lot of choice. I can't remeber every detail (like what was on the menu) as we went a long time ago but I don't remember anything bad!!

The rooms were lovely and spacious and it had all we needed. The beds were comfy and sometimes you heard music, but it wasn't loud and wouldn't keep you awake. The telivison only had two or three english channels but what do you expect it is in Bulgaria!

The staff don't appear to be over friendly but we think that is because they don't know much of our language and in fact we don't any of theirs. But anyway the staff were pleasent and nice. They provided us each with a packed lunch when we got in which was very nice aswell.

The only problem is that the hotel is situated quite away from the town of Pamprovo. We did get a taxi to the town one night and we went to several pubs. The pubs were very nice and authentic! Taxi's cost about 10 levs each way so fairly expensive.

Our family really enjoyed ski school and loved every minute of it. All the instructors were really nice and friendly. The ski slopes were lovely and ranged from complete begginner to advanced but you just had to watch out for ice patches sometimes.

So overall we had a great holiday as we stayed in a great hotel and had a great time. Just a bit of a shame that it was so far away from the town, but oh well!!

My girlfriend and i went here in january and found it to be a brilliant place!!! Unlike others here we found the staff to be really helpful and polite. (they even gave us socket adapters for the week as we had none) It was a real 4 star hotel unlike european hotel standards it lived up to its star rating. Perfect for couples or families as the remote area allows for beautiful walks around the pine forest.
The shuttle bus left the hotel twice a day and returned twice in the evenings. The hotel staff would happily ring a taxi to get u collected and dropped to town which was about 10lev (€5) and the driver would offer you a cheaper deal if you called him again to bring you home!
Hotel is about 5mins outside the resort and walkable but at night due to no footpath it would be risky.
Beautifully situated outside the resort in a pine forrest with amazing views.
The food i found to be good as it had all types and something different every night! If your not a big meat person then maybe you would get bored of the same fruit/veg but oh well.
You can always ring a restauraunt which will send a taxi to collect you and bring you home when you are finished free of charge.

We stayed at Belmont hotel during our winter vacation just after NY. Yhe hotel is located far from the resort center. We can only drive by taxi, that is not very cheap. A walk to "Russian" ski center took about 20 minutes along the side of the road. Transfer is only 2 or 3 trips there and back from 8 am till 9 am and about 16 pm in the evening. So other time we had to take a taxi. Rooms were quite clean and okey in the whole, and charwomen seemed to be the most hospitable people in the whole hotel. The staff at reception is quite rude and inhospitable. They didn't want to understand Russian and even English at all (only one girl did) however at last they did that perfectly. Once a bus driver refused to drive to the ski center at scheduled time. Waiters were very lasy and usually they refresh plates with meals very slowly. Food was also not very diverse but it's a common problem at all the resort as we could understand.

We initially had an awesome holiday, great fun skiing, met some great friendly people, our reps were really helpful. We really didn't want to leave. Before coming we had read some of the reviews for this hotel and were sceptical but hoping for the best.

Initially we were pleasantly surprised as the week went by. The food was OK, the staff seemed genuine and helpful. However, unfortunately our holiday was ruined as we were about to leave this hotel as its true colours came out. Having cleared all outstanding bills and thanked the staff for their service, while waiting for our coach, one of the rooms in our party were rudely accused of stealing face towels, we were not allowed to leave and asked to pay for the missing towels or agree to the staff searching their bags!!! Now, the previous night it had been noticed that the cleaners had not replaced the towels but we thought nothing of it, it was our last night and it was face towels. We politely explained this to the hotel staff, who simply would not listen and instead chose to adamantly create a scene and demand that the only explanation was that the towels were in one of our bags!! (Why they thought standard, unbranded face towels were so important to us after a skiing holiday, that we just had to take them, is another story)

The whole experience was so embarrassing and unnecessary. I was so upset and shocked by the way we were being treated, which was extremely rudely to say the least and at times bordered on racism. This has completely ruined all the great feelings I had about skiing in Bulgaria as this is the only thing I will remember. It is unfortunate because some of the hotel staff had been good to us.

I guess if you do choose to stay here then be sure to CHECK EVERY MORNING that the cleaners have replaced everything they should have or be ready to be assumed a thief. I hope I will feel like returning to Bulgaria for skiing soon but one thing is for sure I will never stay at the Belmont again!!!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel in January and had a very good experience.

When we arrived there was "the most famous female singer" in bulgaria performing so it was very noisy, however, from our room you couldn't hear anything and these performances only seemed to take place on a Saturday night.

During booking we paid a little extra for a bigger room and were happy to find a suite with a separate lounge from the bedroom and ensuite bathroom, well worth the extra. We didn't hear any noise all week and the bedroom was kept clean.

Food and Drink - we thought the food was very good, it was always buffet style, breakfast was composed of cheap juice, teas, coffee, toast, yoghurt, some kind of sausage or bacon (well Bulgarian version) and either scrambbled egg or eggy bread (french toast?!). Cereal was always corn flakes or chocolate wheeto type things. And there was fruit (though not a million choices).

Evening meal was again buffet style. Typical meal would be chips/potatoes or a rice/pasta dish, sliced meat (e.g. pork or beef) which could be a bit dry and a meat dish with sauce and mushrooms etc. If you are a burger and chips type person you might find the food a bit limited but we were both happy to pile our plates with whatever they offered and hope for the best. There wasn't anything that we really disliked. Soup was a bit hit or miss.

Drinks were 6 lev (£3) for a glass of wine and 4.5 lev (£2ish) for a beer (a pint) in the restaurant. Beers in the lobby were a similar price for only a small bottle.

We didn't use the spa or swimming pool but did use the bowling.

The shuttle buses to and from the ski areas were fine once you got used to them. Outward buses went at 9 and 9.30 and return buses came back at 4 and 4.30. If you wanted to ski late you had to get a taxi which costs 12 lev (£6). we never did this if we finished skiing early we just sat in a bar on the ski slopes. To get into town in the evening you can charter the hotel minibus (I think) for 3 lev each or ring a bar/restaurant/pub directly and they will shuttle you in to town and take you home again.

The staff in the hotel weren't overly friendly as commented by others though we found this to be a feature of Bulgaria, not just the hotel.

Also there is a ATM in the hotel which doesn't charge commision. The water in bulgaria is also drinkable so don't worry that the hotel shop doesn't sell bottled water/fizzy drinks.

All in all it was good value for money, some other guests didn't have as good an experience as us, but I've commented only on ours.

Also on departure they get someone to check the minibar so don't raid it on the last night assuming you can leave the country without paying!!!
