I stayed at the homestay for 1 week Feb 2014. I found it pretty much exactly as the photos depict. It is certainly simple and basic but it had everything I needed to enjoy my stay.

I slept in the woodhouse dorm which sleeps 6 with plenty of space for everyone. Each guest has a large comfortable mattress bed fully enclosed with mosquito net and with a very large wooden locker with each bed to store your stuff. Locks are provided. There are floor fans and a lamp for each bed. Downstairs there is two toilets and two showers one of which has hot water as needed. The downstairs section has a kitchen with sink, hob, fridges, toaster, blender etc so preparing your own meals is possible if you so wish (though a meal in a local warung is usually less than about $1AUD !!) Drinking water is provided as is tea, coffee and basic breakfast items. There is also a lounging / TV area with loads of dvds to watch between waves! There is a small bungalow in the same enclosure as the woodhouse and this has a double bed with it's own TV / toilet / shower and it has A/C. Very cute private option.

The woodhouse is located a couple of minutes walk from Echo beach. There are surfbreaks to choose from to suit all levels within a few minutes from the homestay. I would recommend hiring a scooter to get around (the owners of the homestay can organise this for you for about 50k / $5 per day) It is not essential if you just wish to chill at the local beach but it is handy for getting about.

The owners Esi and Made, along with Agung who looks after the place day to day are really friendly and helpful and do everything to make sure you enjoy your stay.

Overall I would defineatly recommend eHomestay for a simple, relaxing break and I will be going back soon.

Stayed for a month and loved every minute. From the moment you arrive you feel part of the family, from both the owners to the other guests. Small family atmosphere as only max of around 8 guests. Always going out for food and beers with other guests, owners and locals. Really clean and plenty of warm hot showers and good toilets. Beds so comfy with mosquito nets, lockers and fans. Internet, tv with heaps of DVDs, cooking facilities, free bread and tea and coffee. Great price, longer you stay cheaper it gets! Easy to organise bike hire and board hire if needed. Very close to one surf spot and within 5min drive to heaps of others. Canggu area is much better than Kuta, more local feel even though it's popular with tourists. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops but much cheaper compared with Kuta. Loved my time here and can't wait to return one day.

Me and a friend wanted to spend a month in Indo surfing and luckily stumbled across ehomestay online. In the end we spent about 6 weeks here and would have stayed longer if the visa wasn't running out. I can't say enough about how great this place was, the homestay itself is surrounded by rice paddies and only a 3 minute walk or 30 second moped ride to Pereranan beach which has several great surf breaks. Canggu is a great place that avoids the manic crowds of Kuta, and offers a more chilled out place to live and surf. There is nothing better than waking up here at sunrise and hitting the awesome surf right on your doorstep. We stayed in the open air 6 bed room which was perfect for us, but there is also a private double room if people want a bit more privacy.

The best part of the stay here though really had to be the openness and kindness of the owners, Made and Esi. Two great people who welcomed us into their lives, we got to live like the locals, joining them and their friends for BBQ's, birthdays, weddings and christenings.

I will definitely be back to visit again and if I had it my way I wouldn't have left at all.

Room tip: Check out Deus on a Sunday night for live music, drinks and the best party in town.

Absolutely love this place. The location, the people, the accommodation. It's all there and spent a month in complete comfort.

Will return to spend even longer surfing and spending time with the locals who are more than welcoming!
