Owner description: A very active temple built around a bubbling spring, Pura Tirta Empul is an interesting place to observe Hindu devotees purifying themselves by means of ritual bathing. It is especially recommended to visit on a full moon day, which has special significance in the local religion.

Nice temple, but you have to go in the water. If for no other reason than it's hot in Bali. Had an enjoyable brief visit, but watching the locals and then fraternizing with the locals in the holy water is a true cultural experience.

Here is one of the place for ritual bathing especially in the holy day.It will be very crowded by local people on full moon or dark moon.
The Balinese people come here not just to take a bath and pray ,but also taking the holy water to bring home for some purposes.
There are also many shops outside the temple selling the souvenir and you will find them on the way out.

Tirta Empul is very peaceful despite the many tourists who frequent it daily. Unfortunately, I couldn't bathe in the holy springs due to hundreds of people participating in a full moon celebration but overall it is definitely worth a visit.

Quite crowded with tourists even in the searing afternoon heat. Paid an entrance fee of 15k rupiah per pax and was then inundated with touts selling bananas. Was provided a sarong to cover up my shorts, however when I returned the sarong I got shouted at for not tipping/donating. Do not follow to left sign which says Exit, instead, retrace your steps back to the entrance. We did the former and greatly regretted it. You will be put through a maze of persistent shopkeepers selling more or less identical wares.

That aside, the temple is peaceful, well maintained and I caught a glimpse of a private ritual from a distance. Word of advice: Keep calm, don't forget to smile.

This was my first temple visiting in Bali. It has a pool of holy water where the local was queuing to be blessed with some of the holy water.

The architecture was interesting to see it for yourself. The way a door was constructed, the details of stone carvings were some of them.

You have to wear a long cloth to cover your legs before heading into any temple, so was Tirta Empul. Don't worry if you don't have any as they do provide you with one. All you need is to donate a little.

Definitely worth 15,000rupiah for visit.
