Maggie's Croft is around 15 mins outside Bettyhill in the village of Strathnaver. We drove past it initially as there is no sign with the properties name and the house number was only visible from one direction. The owner had sent us the code for the key safe prior to our arrival with instructions for turning on the hot water. on our arrival we also needed to turn on the fridge, freezer and the mains supply for the lights. The cottage was clean and furnished comfortably.
The cottage has one downstairs bathroom with a shower over the bath. We found that there was a knack to adjusting the temperature to a comfortable level. As with other remote cottages that we have rented in Scotland there is no privacy glass. There is also a downstairs cloakroom with a WC and a small basin which is accessed through the downstairs twin bedroom. The other three bedrooms, a double, twin and single, are upstairs and comfortably furnished..
The children embraced the lack of WiFi trying out a number of card and board games in addition to working their way through the DVD library.
The kitchen is adequately equipped with masses of storage and a washing machine and dishwasher. We became concerned about one electrical item and fed this back to the owner at the end of our stay.
