Interesting small centre with nice knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit. Nice village to explore with great wee harbour and walk up the river bank.

My wife and I visited by accident this very location along from the DUNBEATH WAR MEMORIAL and we were welcomed by Neil MacLeod who has a vast knowledge of the items inside the Centre and also locally too . A very knowledgeable young gentleman and we loved his Caithness accent too !

We had walked around LATHERON KIRKYARD to look for an 1882 erected headstone of a Leith Burgh Police Constable murdered on duty in Leith near Edinburgh but buried back in his home of Latheron and again Neil came to our aid with the "street plan" of the graveyard so we went back to the churchyard where the Gunn Clan Centre is nowadays and found this headstone of the Constable murdered on duty back in 1882 that Ive been researching recently .

An excellent centre to visit and his knowledge too will be of interest as well .

The centre has an excellent exhibition that is thought provoking, and also benefits from immensely helpful and knowledgeable staff who are able to highlight how distant history has influenced today's society.

If one is interested in 'The Clearances', and tracing ones ancestors, this is a must stop for anyone keen about the history of the Highlands.
