empty restaurant terrible food-no taste or flavour -over priced no atmosphere - good service though! Owner was complaining that no body came anymore? Really? Perhaps you should take a step back and look at what you're offering

We eat a lot of Indian food and I will not stop going to the Sunar Gow as they feel 'part of the family'. However when they opened they provided good quality dishes that you would travel to eat, Now although the service is excellent the food is not.
You cannot always taste the individual flavours and the meals quite often taste 'like just another Indian' The excitement has gone.
As a vegan I struggle as everything is cooked in gee, where as a lot of restaurants use sunflower oil for the vegetarian and vegan options.
I used to go here at least once a week, we still eat a lot of Indian food.

With any food on the menu you can choose the heat. Good tasting food with texture. Well looked after and friendly service. Lived in Lutterworth for 17 years and never been disssapointed.

This was the second time that I have eaten at this restaurant, I travel up to Rugby from the South East of England to visit family, And I enloyed the food very much the first time and asked to return there. The Lamb Passanda is the best I have ever had and the rice with spinach is sublime. The Owner and all the staff are very welcoming ,and the prices compared to the South are less and yet I feel that the food is much better.I love the side of the room that has little booths with lovely glass panes between them with softly changing lights in them. The other side is open to have larger tables.I hope they get lots of customers,as times are hard for this trade but they very much deserve to be very busy.

As anyone who reads my reviews will realise by now, I’m currently staying in the lovely little town of Lutterworth in Leicestershire. As a result, I’m trying all the restaurants in and around the area.

The New Sunar Gow is one of three Indian restaurants in the town itself, unless someone has hidden one from me. It is located in Station Road, which is adjacent to The Shambles public house.

Once again, to be precise, this is a Bangladeshi restaurant, rather than the true Indian restaurants you get around the centre of Leicester. As a result you tend to get the more traditional fare that you would expect say, in the Manchester or Birmingham Curry Miles. So, low in vegetarian and no dhosas.

I ordered a Mixed Tandoori with a side dish of Tarka Dahl, led in with Poppadums. The Tandoori arrived with a bit of salad and the dahl. The dish consisted of a half chicken, chicken cubes and lamb kebab. So, not really a very ‘mixed’ dish. The flavour of the tandoor was very much on the surface of the chicken portion, which basically means that it has been dipped in the tandoori paste rather than marinated to allow the flavour to seep into the meat. The surface flavour was good, the rest, less so.

The service was good, but too subservient for my taste. A distinct distance being left between the waiters and the customers. The décor is good, although the tables are far too cramped to be comfortable.

This restaurant needs to improve its culinary standards if it wants to compete with the best Indian restaurant in the town.
