“a little bit of italy”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

lovely little eating place ! Felt we where abroad . the service was brilliant ! although we had a discount voucher the choice was good ! Very impressed with the cleanliness of the place even though some people would feel the décor needed updating but we felt it was quint ant and quirky ! we love the atmosphere and would return inthe near future .

“Absolute Rip Off, Misleading Groupon, AVOID!!!!!”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

My experience seems to be the same as many others that have reviewed. I feel completely cheated and RIPPED OFF. I purchased 2 Groupon vouchers, 1 with Liqueur coffees for 2 people and the other with a bottle of wine for 2 people. The confusion started when I printed the voucher and saw that the address was for Lutterworth, as I thought they were for the Oadby branch as that's what it said on the website when I bought them. I called the restaurant and was told if they say Lutterworth that's where I have to use them. I had no choice but to book for this restaurant then! We arrived on Thursday night at 7pm to an empty restaurant (I now know why). When I presented the vouchers I was told we couldn't use the one for the bottle of wine as it was for Oadby, even though it said Lutterworth on it and I had been told I could only use them at Lutterworth! The Manager said that Groupon had got it wrong and he wouldn't be able to redeem it, so we couldn't use it there, but we could use the other voucher and then pay for the other 2 peoples meals seperately. Had it not been that we had travelled further than we had expected to if we had gone to Oadby and that we had taken my Dad out as a treat, we would have got up and walked out there and then, but my Dad looked embarrassed, so we said we would stay (Big Mistake!) We were given menus which were just bits of paper stapled to a menu cover. The choice was tiny and definitely not what we were expecting, as none of the items mentioned as being included on the voucher I had bought were there ie, Steak, Lamb Penne, Sea Bass. A couple of other tables came in later and were given the 'REAL' menu.
I returned home and found there menu online, only to discover that they had overpriced the items on the shortened menu to look like we had got better value. This would have been bad enough, but we had also been forced to pay full price for 2 starters and 2 mains from this OVERPRICED menu as well. it turns out we had actually paid £9.10 over the 'REAL' menu prices!!

I am completely bemused as to why they are even doing the Groupon voucher, as I was under the impression they were used by businesses to generate new customers by attracting them with a good deal and showing them how good they are so that people will return in the future. Not to treat people like 2nd class diners and completely deceive and rip them off!!

This business should definitely not be allowed to submit Groupon deals and should be avoided at all costs.
Who the hell do these people think they are blatantly 'RIPPING' people off like that.
I have complained to Groupon and encourage anyone else that has bought a voucher to do the same.

THEY ARE CROOKS!!!!

“Good Italian”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Been several times and normally very good, some attention to the decour maybe and ensure all food is available as sometimes had to substitute alternatives. What we've had though is normally very good, bottled lager very expensive though, should look at either reducing price or offer draft

“Beware - Groupon Deal is Miss Leading”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

We decided to use the Groupon Deal yesterday (6/3) based on the understanding that we were free to choose any starter & main course from the À La Carte menu (we checked out the on line menu for the restaurant prior to purchasing the deal & felt it was a very good offer).

On arriving at the restaurant we found the place to be as described "rustic" though a little basic & less romantic than we had hoped (boy the seats were hard). The welcome was a little on the cold side but the restaurant was warm enough and could sit where ever we wanted as we were the only people in the place; we quickly settled in & looked forward to receiving the menu.

So far so good but then it all went pair shaped - the on line menu was extensive with some fabulous sounding options, I definitely fancied the signature dish, but what we were given to choose from was more apt to be described as Table d'Hôte. My immediate response on receiving the menu was "is this all we can choose from ?", the response given was yes - apparently Groupon had wrongly advertised the offer.

Try as I might there was nothing on the Groupon menu that I fancied & no way could any of the options total the advertised deal, in fact I think it would have worked out cheaper to have chosen from this menu & paid for it directly.

It soon became decision time - do I order something I don't want off the Groupon menu, choose from the real À La Carte menu or walk out - the decision came easy, this place is too expensive to eat at mid week when there is no atmosphere, lets go !

It would be unfair to give a bad review of the restaurant as we didn't eat there - my average score is based on the real À La Carte menu being so impressive, the reception we were given & the quality of the decor/furnishings. In reality I doubt we will go back unless the prices are reduced &/or business improves as I like to eat in more popular places when it's at least a quarter full.

To the conclusion - if you bought the Groupon deal I'd ask for your money back; it seems they are aware there is a problem (though denied it is their end) & quickly agreed to give me a refund. This restaurant may be worth trying on a Saturday evening when hopefully it gets busier but as for a mid week romantic meal I'd give it a wide berth.

“Groupon rip off”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Booked with a groupon voucher, was expecting a nice cosy Italian meal for two, what we got was a dirty table with hard wooden chairs in a draughty corner. Was looking forward to a lasagne or spaggetti bolengese for my meal, which is a simple yet expected item on any Italian menu .... Not this one, we got achoice of 4 things non of them appealing, and we both considered leaving on reading the menu as we were cold and all the things offered were pasta tube based but we thought we would give it a chance as we had pre payed. Without doubt if we had not pre payed we would have got up and left!
My partner fancied the steak that was advertised on the voucher, no chance of this. To be honest I always thought the idea of these offers was to entice people into your restaurant and offer them exellcent service and value for money so then then return time and time again and become regular customers, maybe my business head is on upside down !!! We for certain would not return here as it was overpriced and poor service, one man serving all the tables and never seen another person all night, luckily the restaurant was only half full but I dread to think how he would manage if a few extra people came in for a table. Back the the food ... It was not terrible, just ok and edible but I wouldn't wish to eat it again. I wonder what would have happened had we not told them we had a grouping voucher and just presented it at the end of the meal .... I have a feeling my review here would be slightly better. I know we won't ever go here again and when anyone asks if we know of a nice Italian it won't be on out list of places to visit. Instead of gaining customers they have probably lost a few, which is I'm sure not good for business in these hard times
