The newest kid on the block is Ciao Bella in Assagao. An Eurochic Italian restaurant with very reasonable prices opened two months ago. Opening in the monsoon appears to be a good move as it is busy almost every evening.
The place looks new, clean and modern without being sterile. On the contrary there is a warm atmosphere and the clever creation of different ambiances within one setting allows for a business meeting as well as a diner with the kids. There is ample parking opportunity just in front of the restaurant.
On offer are delicious home made pastas and home made bread. They make a beautiful sage & butter ravioli, a great black tagliatelle with salmon, delicious seafood pasta and a very interesting chocolate pasta with Gorgonzola. They use an excellent mozzarella for the Caprese salad, have freshly marinated sardines and an tasty starter typically from Rome. The panna cotta is pretty good and so is the creme brulee.
Every now and then, Simona the cook of the restaurant, makes a special and if you are so lucky that is on the day of your visit, you should definitely go for it as these specials have been always fantastic on the occasions I had them.
The wines are very reasonably priced. A free amuse at the start of the meal and a free digestive at the end of a meal are part of the package. How they can do it all for these prices is beyond me!
At the moment they are closed on Mondays but this may change during the tourist season. Apparently they have started lunches on Saturdays and Sundays but I have not tried these.
