“Good stop”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

This is a good stop between desert (Merzouga) and your way back to Marrakech (it is just a few hundreds meters from the road your driving on). It has a nice swimming pool (although very cold!!), amazing view and a fantastic restaurant (the best food during our 14 days Morocco trip!)

If you want to stay more days than just a stop than it is good to know that it also a good basis for visiting Gorge Dades and you can even visit Gorge Todra from here (about 1 1/2 hour drive).

Tips for families with children:
- the family suite is also suitable for families with older children than 3 years. At booking.com you will see this family suite for 2 adults and 2 children up to 3 years. Via booking.com we asked if older children were also allowed. We were allowed to be there with a 8 and 10 year old child without extra costs.
- it must be possible to be in the family suite with more (young) children. We had the following beds: a large double bed, two single beds of 1.30 meters length each and one bed with an estimated length of 1.80 meters. Besides this we think that it is maybe possible that they can make a third 1.30 metre bed of what now was a bench.
- the room was spacious
- the portions in the restaurant are so huge that you need no more than to order for two people (one waiter even told us this before ordering!).

Good to know for everyone:
- if possible try to have the waiter Mohammed. He was very kind and nice with the children. Unfortunately the other waiter was very very grumpy...
- the restaurant doesn't have a menu where you can see the prices. They told us that they have a 3 course menu with a fixed price (12 euro pp). They gave us the impression that this was the only possiblity but at the end we saw on our bill that the evening we didn't took a dessert that the price was lower. So you don't have to take 3 courses!!
- the bill of the restaurant you have to pay in cash in the restaurant
- the bill of the Kasbah (your room) you can pay at the reception and you can pay with visa card all the time (they make a print of your card and they call for a number so it is not depending whether the internet is working or not).
- Some rooms have a patio. Don't take a room special for the patio because this patio is very small (2 by 2 metres?) and surrounded by very high (3 meters high??) cement walls!!

We had a very pleasant stay and the staff was very friendly.

I am not sure who the main clients of this Kasbah Hotel are. It is vast, a series of courtyards in need of a gardener to weed them, a big pool with a closed poolside bar that seemed to be someone's sleeping quarters, function rooms, walkways and terraces with wonderful views of the Dades Valley and goodness knows how many rooms.

For the international tourist the rooms are good although lacking some touches - ours had only one bedside lamp, inadequate storage and no hangers, no toiletries, 2 small towels, -but I slept very well. The restaurant is good; although we were pretty fed up with tagine by the time we'd worked our way round here, they did a good one. but tourists like to be able to enjoy a bottle of wine on their holidays and this hotel is 'dry'.
For the traveller it provides what you need, safe parking, somewhere clean and restful to stay, good food,- but no cold beer, a lovely breakfast and a very strange atmosphere.
Maybe the target audience are business people, Conferences, Weddings? If not, I can't see it ever being full.

I booked a troglodyte room inclusive of dinner and breakfast. The only nice things were the view and the swimming pool which unfortunately I could not use because of the wind. The room was very uncomfortable since the bed practically occupied most of the cave with not enough room to go around it. The toilet would not stop leaking so I had to close the water to get rid of the noise. The electrical system was appropriate for the Neandertal period, The room was not particularly clean. The meals were basic, say 6 out of 10 but water was extra and there was none in the bedroom either. Charging $ 2 for a bottle of water seems cheap and a way to take advantage of your clients. Find another Hotel!!!

Room Tip: The idea of sleeping in a cave is intriguing but by all means don't do it unless you are a teena...

Our tour booked kasbah on our behalf. It was our first night after 10 nights camping at Anti-Atlas mountains in winter. To our dismay, the hot showers took time to start up in the evening. It was 7am before the shower pressure and heater came on next morning.

Braakfast was good though. Sunrise view fantastic too. Overall, a good half-way house back to Marackech..

I stayed in Tizzarouiene for a couple of days last year. This time arround, Mo and Astrid
had to host our family with three kids during new year's eve.
(which they offcialy do not even do, since their new year is somewhere else)
Our whole trip in de hands of Dadesreizen.nl was everything you can hope for:
warm, inspiring, authentic, safe while at the same time as daring and adventurous as your kids can handle. Kashba Tizzarouine has become "home" in Morocco. Away from Marrakesh or Fez or Agadir's tourism but with beds, baths and breakfast to wash away the sand between your ....well, everything.
Mo's father told me our familty would always be welcome and you know he does not play the part as owner of the hotel. The reason is that he established the place as a meeting point for his people way before it was a hotel. This spot used to be the "Moyen Atlas" meeting place for the Tamazight, the original Berber semi-nomadic peoples. Being host to travellers is routed deeply in their blood.Their Camels are replaced by Toyota's, but they are not.
if you look for a safe heaven somewhere in this facinating country,
just call this hotel and ask for Mo. Chances are that his network will have someone about 200 metres from where you're standing to bring you to Tazzarouine (including your broken car/father with sprained ancle/entire school class or whatever you may have encountered)
.
