“Nice place!”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

We arrived tired and grumpy after a long, hot journey from Marrakesh and were immediately greeted by friendly smiling faces. We stayed one night in a nice suite, It is an underground Berber caves , very white, airy with three-rooms and living room separated by curtains, and Berber carpets.
We recomand this nice place to everyone visting Dades.

On arrival, this is a wonderfull kasbah, very beautifully restored, with a pool, gardens and flowers everywhere.

Unfortunately most other things are very average. Service upon arrival is good, we got tea at a nice table. After that, all service just stopped. Dinner was just weird - please make good Maroccon food, not this. A dry tajine and a non descript starter. There were a LOT of French people, I think some of them friends of the owners. These friends tried to help in the kitchen which make things unclear. It is impossible to order a drink - we ended up walking into the kitchen. Since it is in the middle of nowhere you cannot go anywhere else for dinner.

Breakfast, I regret saying this, was a joke. The people next to us gave up and left. Table was dirty and was not cleaned so we moved all the stuff to some sidetable. In the meantime the owner was in the same room, surely he must have seen this. We didn't get what the other tables had and vice versa. And were those pancakes microwaved?? In Marocco?? It was just a mess. We checked out and continued our trip.

We stayed here in March and the almond trees around the property were in full bloom. The location is secluded and very quite. The rooms and food were great. Very nice pool for lounging. Staff very accommodating. We brought our own wine to dinner, no problem. Would stay here again. A game of ping pong was fun before we hit the road again.

This was the best night of entire trip to Morroco. Not obvious location, even for our driver, especially the river crossing. What a wonderful surprise! Acceuil tres chalareux by our hosts, Jean-Mi(chel) and Francoise. High quality renovation of an old kasbah. The entire property is like a museum with innumerable beautiful pieces from the owners' extensive African travels. The food is exquisite and freshly made on the premises (unlike previous reviews that must have referred to the earlier days of the property prior to the owners being on-site). Good heating, even in common areas (winter nights in Morroco can be chilly). Francoise even babysat our little 2 1/2 year old while we had heavenly time in the private hammam (highly recommended little extra). A stressless, wonderful stay--how every guest accomodation should strive to be! Highly recommended!

Recently spent two delightful nights at La Perle du Dades - lovely French hosts, original, stylish and comfortable rooms in traditional moorish style, superb location with easy access to stunning walks. It was wonderful to return to after the madness of Marrakech - very civilised without being in any way clinical.
Highly recommended.

Took us a long time to get to the Perle since we didnt attempt the river route and were almost ready to turn around when we came to the entrance. We thought we landed in heaven. The accommodations, rooms, staff, food and property were outstanding! We've already reccommended it to our friends. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night. We suggest staying more than one night as there is plenty to do on the impressive property (swimming pool, hammocks...) and in the nearby area (hiking, sight seeing...) However, when leaving we tried the river route (in our VW golf) and it was easily doable.

We got a beautiful suite and everything about this place was fabulous. The owners, who are French but have lived in West Africa, created this place up to European and western standards of comfort, but decorated it with local furnishings. It was too cold to use the pool, but our kids, 9 and 14, loved having free run of the place, the cinema and ping pong. Pearl is so comfortable that we didn't want to leave, and spent the day just hanging out. Definitely stay for dinner. It was in a beautiful, warmly lit dining room, and the hosts poured wine freely and the meal was the right blend of European and/or Moroccan dishes. As an aside, I had a family emergency during our stay, and the owners let me use their phones to call and make arrangements for my family. They were incredibly gracious. The setting of this place is ideal and you may not want to leave.

Room Tip: The suite was great for a family
