We stayed here during Benicàssim Music Festival - and luckily we had our own car so that we could take us to and from Benicàssim, it was definitely not walking distance. The outrageous price for hotel customers using the perking garage was some 30 euros for 3 nights.

The room was okay, normal hotel standard, up until we noticed that the bathroom floor was flooded due to a leaking shower on the floor above. Not only did we get someone elses dirty shower waste water in our bathroom, but the water was collected in the cieling where elctrical wires ran! Even though we complained (to seemingly non English speaking staff) we were not offered a new room until the last night - I guess we were lucky not to get fried alive. Someone from Maintenance came and mopped the urine stinking water up, and then it was just to wait for the guy above to take a new shower... and then start all over again, arguing with the unfriendly reception staff.

The area was also quite depressing, newly built high rises, sterile and... just sad.

Amazingly poor service. Amazingly poor English spoken. Amazingly nonchalant staff. Next year we will stay somewhere else, for sure.

We stayed here during Benicassim music festival. The rooms were clean and quite new looking. The hotel seemed full but there were hardly any staff working and the queues were horrendous! Every time you went to the reception or bar you waited at least 20 minutes to be served.

The town of Opressa is not great either!

I have just come back from a weeks stay at the Marina d'or 3 star hotel which is known by a few different names on here. We stayed on a B&B basis and the main attraction for us was location as it was about 20 minutes to the FIB festival.

Check in: On arrival we spent approximately 30-40 minutes waiting to be checked in. The staff were very slow.

Room: We had a room on the third floor which consisted of 2 single beds, a sofa, TV, huge bathroom with shower and bath and the most important thing- free air con! There was a complementary plate of cheese and meat, fruit and water on arrival- great if you arrive in the morning but wouldn't want to risk eating it if you arrived at night as it would have been there all day... The balcony was big enough for 2 of you with a table and 2 chairs. We were at the front of the hotel and you could see the sea to your right as you looked out. The room was more than adequate for our needs.

Facilities: There is free Wifi in the hotel which was a bit hit and miss. We found the best place to get it was in reception but then it was still slow but it covered our needs of checking emails and updating facebook. The pool was a good size- when you find it. it is tucked away behind the 5 star hotel. There are plenty of sunbeds but be quick if you want a comfy one as they go first. There was 2 kids pools and a main pool that you could stand up in. There was also a section that was very deep and not ideal for kids. The water was cool and clean but often taken up by the water aerobics that the entertainment staff carried out daily and seemed to go on for hours. There is also a bar in the pool area which closes for siesta. There is also a spa where you are given a complementary treatment but our time slot was when we were at the festival so we did not use ours or even go into the spa.

Food: Despite being on a B&B basis we only ate in the restaurant 3 times during our stay- mainly because we were still in bed sleeping off the late night from the festival. The food was average- hot food was cold, lots on offer and you will find something you like. We managed to sneak out bottles of water and snacks for the day too. For our other meals we either ate in the resort or at the festival. I recommend the restaurant opposite the hotel that is part of the 4 star hotel for the best food.

Resort: Oropesa is a lovely area. It is designed for Spanish families but for the one week a year that the FIB is on it copes very well with the British invasion. There were a few language barriers as the locals generally do not know much English but we managed to get by with basic spanish, lots of hand gestures and an app on my iphone that translated Spanish into English! The beach is lovely and clean and I would definitely consider going back at a time the FIB was not on.

FIB: This hotel is a great base for the festival. The transfer service lists this hotel as a pick up point for the festival but DO NOT BELIEVE IT! It may pick you up but it drops you off a good 15 minute walk away which is no fun at 4am when you have been on your feet all night and drank a few too many beers. My advice is get a taxi there and back- 20 euros each way but so much better.

Good points: Location, Air con (when it worked), cleanliness
Bad points: food was basic

Overall a good hotel and just what we needed.

We used this hotel as our base for Benicassim Festival 2012. It's in a great location to get to and from the festival.
The hotel was fab- big rooms, clean and tidy, huge pool area and good breakfast choice!
I would definitely stay at this hotel again for next years festival- we got a coach transfer that cost about €45 to get us to and from the festival that picks up directly outside the hotel (I think the company was festivals4eu but pre-booking is advised as they sold out early)
We flew into Barcelona and then got the train from there to Benicassim (again we had pre-booked this which is advised as to and from the festival most trains were sold out)
Hope the above helps as I found little info when searching this hotel/resort :-)
P.S it's a fantastic festival- no mud and proper toilets!! What more can you ask for!!

Marina d'Or is an interesting place designed mainly for Spanish families, with several hotels, sports complexes, a spa, lots of restaurants and places for children to play. During the FIB music festival in Benicassim it is also frequented by "youngish" Brits as it is only a 15-minute drive from the festival. This mix worked absolutely fine during the festival. Plus points for the hotel include the complementary plate of cold meats, cheese and plate of fruit offered on the first evening as well as a free beauty treatment... The rooms are rather basic with stiff sheets on the beds and quite flimsy towels, but the two main swimming pools were a delight and the beach was only a short walk away... If you can face the Marina d'Or soundtrack which will subliminally enter your subconscious as it is played during breakfast, by the pool and even on a radio channel or if you want somewhere to keep the children busy this is ideal. I'm planning to return during FIB 2012...

a group of us stayed here during the benicassim music festival as I read somewhere that the hotel was 5 kilometers away thinking that maybe we could walk to the venue if needs be... definitley not its about 12 ks away. Got there mid afternoon and took around an hour to check in. I had 3 rooms booked for 6 people 2 in each but they ended up trying to put is in 2 rooms 3 in each.. not what i booked but trying to explain this to the girl in reception was a nightmare!! even with the best sign language she couldnt get her head around it!!! very frustrating. We eventually got to our room which was on the 10th floor. It was ok, clean and tidy but ahd a distinct musty smell. nice view due to the height tho.

There were a number of English people here all of whivh were at benicassim the rest were spanish which is fine by us. Orepesa itself however does not like the english! if your not spanish your not getting served or even a smile! not a nice town to stay and would deffo not got back.

Only had breakfast which was rubbish.

I wouldnt stay in this hotel again... it is like Blackpool which is fine if you like that sort of thing. Anyone going to benicassim next year be warned the tickets for the gig are cheap but the hotels and getting too and from the venue will cost you!

Room Tip: go to a different hotel

This hotel is designed for the spanish holiday makers in volume...it is on a purpose built resort worse than blackpool. The buffet was cold and unpleasant, the service atrocious....we had a flood in our room due to poor workmanship and could not get anyone to help...we had to move room after waiting for over an hour.
