“Cosy”
Reviewed September 25, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Everything about Acanthus Cottage was first rate.Thank you Margaret and Ted for a wonderful welcome and for being there to chat to and to give advice on eating places etc,The cttage was comfoertable and cosy with all amenities and two lovely bedrooms for the three of us.It is close to Stratford upon Avon and all sorts of Shakespearian experiences especially Mary Arden and Palmer's Farm, and Anne Hathaway,s Cottage(superb). The food in in The Kings Head in Aston Cantlow is the best I have been served with in years. The Sunday roast in The Mary Arden Inn 100 yards away was excellent. It was also nice to have the village shop 200 yards away for papers and milk in the morning.Thank you Margaret and Ted for a wonderful week ,we wish we had made it a fortnight.

“Lovely cottage, nice space for two friends”
Reviewed July 4, 2015 for a stay in September 2014

Acanthus is a lovely, well appointed cottage. It is in a great location; near enough to Stratford-on-Avon and a train station, but away from the busy town. Hosts were really great. Rooms and amenities were just what was needed for our week's stay.

“House and hosts were Gems!”
Reviewed April 19, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We loved our stay at the very comfortable, clean and well equipped Acanthus Cottage. We enjoyed the walks around the area, the beautiful garden, and the close proximity to village shop and pubs. Stratford was but a short drive away. I cannot say enough about our host, Margaret, she was always there when needed and when a crisis presented itself during our stay she was absolutely wonderful. We are very appreciative. Thank you Margaret and Ted.

“Cosy cottage and a great location”
Reviewed March 11, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

I stayed three nights in Acanthus Cottage on a "girly weekend" with two friends. The cottage is lovely, warm and welcoming and with tea, coffee, milk, bread etc provided which is a lovely touch. It is in a pretty small village and just five minutes walk to the train station with an hourly service to Stratford which is only a few miles away. There is a village shop and two pubs and the canal which goes to Stratford if you feel like walking or cycling. Will definitely go back and stay as it is such a lovely place and the garden in summer would be lovely to sit in after a day out sightseeing. Margaret and Ted were perfect hosts and live next door. Very friendly and there to provide any guidance wanted.

“Very nice, cozy and clean base near Stratford”
Reviewed December 18, 2014 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed at Acanthus Cottage for 3 nights and were very pleased with our choice. I won't repeat Claire's comments as they are very accurate, but need to reiterate that Ted and Margaret were perfect hosts, never intruding and always on hand if required. The cottage is not 5 star, in reality it is probably 3.5 star, but it is actually better than that rating as mentioned in Clair's review. The cottage was very cozy and had everything we required as a stop over. Highly recommended as a base for the Stratford area.

“Delightful and extremely well appointed cottage in great location”

This is the loveliest and best resourced holiday home we have ever rented. It is extremely clean and cosy and we found all the furnishings and equipment to be of the highest standard - with high quality antique furniture adding to the cottage ambience. A great deal of thought has obviously gone into providing everything that guests could possible want - including alarm clocks, hairdryers and towels, DVDs and local info and a large umbrella and a torch, as well as flat screen TVs in both bedrooms (which also have their own en suites). The owners are really friendly and helpful - and generously left some food for us on our arrival (bread, cereals, milk, tea, coffee and sugar and some sachets of butter and marmalade). There is a large and beautifully maintained garden which you can sit out in and the location is nice and quiet/rural - although only a few minutes' walk from the local shop and a couple of pubs, both of which serve food. The village is attractive with a number of old buildings, including the house/farm of Shakespeare's mother, Mary Arden, which is just around the corner from the cottage (and in fact Pear Tree Cottage, which adjoins Acanthus Cottage and is where the owners live, actually belonged to Shakespeare's parents for some years - as has been verified by TV historian Michael Wood on his visits to it; so; this is a great place to stay for Shakespeare fans!). On top of that, Stratford-upon-Avon with all its sights and activities is only about 10 minutes' drive away - or an hour's walk along the canal (and you can return by train in just a few minutes).
