The Robin Hood Inn

This was booked after reading a disastrous review of another b&b which we cancelled.
Asolutely briliiant, wonderfully comfortable, luxurious room, and just had a brilliant dinner. Service CERTAINLY with a smile, and NOTHING too much trouble.

Definitely the first of many a business stay.

I had a really nice business lunch at the Robin Hood. There are several vegetarian choices as well as a conventional menu with fishcakes, meat etc. The wine list is short, but has a range of choices. However, the wine is rather overpriced considering the fairly ordinary labels offered. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is good.

I've stayed here 3-4 times now and each time I have enjoyed my stay.

The rooms are comfortable, well furnished, and kept very clean. Rooms have complimentary bottles of water and a kettle with tea / coffee. Free WiFi in the bedrooms. Points to note are that the rooms can get hot at night so if you plan to stay in the summer ask for a fan on arrival. TVs in rooms are partially tuned which could be easily put right. Showers are great though and very powerful.

The restaurant and bar has a very warm, homely atmosphere and the food is to high standards with a great selection of wines and beer.

The Inn is is situated on on the village green in what is a stunning location.

All in all, this is a great stay hence why I keep returning. Good value for money and hard to beat in the immediate area.

We recently stayed at the pub for a dinner bed and breakfast deal at £99 - this was good value for money however only allowed you to a certain set menu, so ended up paying extra for the food we wanted. Wine was expensive as were the extra's - puddings were £6.25. However, the food was all extremely high quality and presented wonderefully. The rooms were ok - we were in Saint Armour which was nicely decorated but in need of touching up. Our room was dusty and carpet stained. TV on wall was tiny and walls to other rooms were very thin. Make sure you state when booking if you require a bath as other rooms only have a shower and are very small. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our requests. There is little else to do in the village however lots to see in the area.

A couple of weeks ago we stayed in the Robin Hood Inn for seven nights. We are our six year old daughter, my wife and myself. I had to be there for business and we decided to make it an extended stay for the family as well. We had a wonderful stay, the room was spacious, well kept and nicely decorated. The staff was very helpful and friendly, our daughter got on with them very well. And the food and drinks were great too. So if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a good place to stay, we certainly recommend you to go there.

We booked in to Robin Hood Inn on the morning of our stay, where we snatched the last room going for a cheap rate of £45. We had been camping, and after uncomfortable nights in a field we decided that perhaps we were hotel people after all and checked in!

I absolutely loved the room we were given, it was average sized so don't go expecting a room like you would find in a Hilton! It was decorated like a boudoir with a nice double bed, feature wall, single wardrobe and a television with cable channels mounted on the wall (which, after blowing off our camping trip, we were incredibly thankful for!) We got a kettle and complimentary coffee/tea/water etc.
The room also featured a very spacious en-suite bathroom which had a bath/shower combination and was decorated very contemporary. It felt more like a room in your house rather than a room in a hotel which catered for our quiet and cosy night in wonderfully.

Identifying hotel staff from bar staff, however, is tricky and we never got a room key for our stay as it had been 'misplaced.' We also were never prompted for money and I believe, if I didn't have a conscience, we could have easily avoided payment all together as nobody seemed to know we were even staying there!

Once you have banged a few of the staff members heads together you will enjoy the stay here. I never once heard noise from the bar below and I would happily go and visit this little wonder again.

Rooms were very tired. the sash cords in the windows were broken and the window was propped open with a wooden coat hanger! Cracks on walls, shower leaked over the bathroom floor and decoration was very 70's. The rooms could have been cleaner. However, the staff were all helpful and the food quite good. Poor value for money at £75 a night with breakfast extra.

On reading your review, I would like to take this oppotunity to tell you that as the new owners we have listened to your comments and will be addressing them in the near future.
We have been here fof 2 months now and feel the changes that needed to be made downstairs in the restaurant and bar areas have been put into place,
All the staff have been trained to the highest standard and all understand what the customer expects.
The 5 rooms we let out for Bed & Breakfast have all been thoroughly cleaned and understand that there are a few problems, for example the sash windows that will be looked at.

Please come and see us again so you can see the changes we have made to make your visit a pleasure.
