Trip didn't start well with the minibus being half an hour late to pick us up and being told cable car was cancelled due to high winds (the wind is always strong in Tenerife and certainly always on top of Mount Teide). Instead we spent an hour wandering round the observatory, only seeing one telescope and no pictures of what it was seeing.
Then we went to watch the sunset, from the observatory rather than the viewing gallery promised, again disappointing as it is not the sun setting at all but just going behind the volcano. For a real sunset get to Playa De Las Americas, eat on promenade at Meat Flavour Farmer, the sun sets over the sea as you eat!!!!
Then we drove to cable car station for dinner prepared by 2 Michelin starred chef, was looking forward to it. What we actually got was a stand up buffet, where waiters brought nice but limited amount of finger food. Although the red wine was very good. Again disappointing.
Then we went outside and looked through telescopes at stars, saw Saturn and various other things, nice but overall a very expensive night, which promised a romantic afternoon and evening but left us both feeling disappointed and a little mislead!!!
