Marstrand is a wonderful spot on the Swedish westcoast, with its harbour, all the old beautiful houses, the Castle and the Grand Hotel. Its a fantastic enviroment there you go back 100 years. All rooms are different and thats nice.We had a fantastic wiew from our balcony. But it was dirty, hair on the bathroom floor, dust on all the frames and on the floor. No AC,No radio or music. And we had the kitchen area right under and they where very noicy till 0130 in the morning so there was not much sleep. The breakfast was very poor and so was the service. And when i told the staff about it,the defence where there like viper attack. For €260 I want a hell of a lot moore.

Room Tip: Maybee on the topfloor?

The weather was typical for summers in Sweden. Cool and some rain, but that didn't stop us from touring the island and coming back for great food and a comfy, large suite to relax in. The appetizer of "Kraftor" is amazing! It's well worth the large price tag. ( They are kin to crayfish, but different since they live in brackish water in Sweden.) It's a Swedish specialty. The meal was relaxing and not rushed, yet the staff were attentive. The rooms were comfortable and roomy, but older, yet with charm so it didn't matter. It was clean and appealing. And the free breakfast was great. Will definately come back for a longer trip next time.

Old fashioned hotel on car free island, you have to park up the car (50 Krona per 24 hours) and catch the very regular ferry (40 Krona return). All of the staff were most helpful and the hot & cold breakfast buffet was both extensive & excellent. Best coffee of our Sweden trip without a doubt was here at the Grand! The clean room was superb in every way from the comfy bed to the deep bath and a nice touch was a cafetiere of coffee brought to our room on the first night of our stay free of charge. We stayed at one of the busiest times of year and there was some noise outside the hotel until quite late as the daylight just goes on in the Swedish summertime. This was in no way the fault of the hotel but it did detract slightly from the overall experience. When all said and done however we would certainly return to the Grand, possibly at a less busy time of year.

Excellent hotel. Very good standard. Extremely good food. Nice, classic, rooms. Sadly, in my room the music from the nearby restaurant was quite annoying at night.

What a relief ! Situated on a car-free island, the lovely little swedish village Marstrand is the picture-perfect prototype of a swedish village. Our room with balcony and view towards the harbour was very pretty decorated and had all the amenities you need. The service in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast typically swedish. It was very hard to leave this lovely place, we will definitely come back !

Grand Hotell Marstrand is an old building from the hey days of the yachting town Marstrand on the Swedish West Coast. The hotel is in the middle of the small town and it is east to come there (there are no cars on the island). The ambiance is turn of the century, no not the last one, even if the rooms are have all the modern things you need. Some of the rooms are quiet small, but who cares for a romantic stay? Staaf is friendly, breakfast is good. This is a small place to return to.
