Stayed at Fern Cottage for one night in their Rosemary room which was absolutely flawless. The room was extremely clean & a comfort to stay in with my friend. The grounds are beautiful and both Sue & Pete couldn't have been more warming, welcoming & accommodating. They went to every length to ensure our stay was fulfilling & relaxing - exactly why we chose Fern Cottage. The food was amazing and every award they have won is so well deserved. I would highly recommend this to anyone & everyone wanting to visit the area yet have a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Thank you very much & we will be visiting again.

Room Tip: Rosemary room has a beautiful view, flat screen TV and was extremely clean. Great size for a couple.

Having found Fern Cottage online we knew we wanted to stay there. We stayed in the Bergamot Room which met all our expectations and more. We were overwhelmed with the warm welcome and hospitality especially with special requests. We particularly enjoyed the cream tea on arrival and would recommend Fern Cottage to anyone. We look forward to visiting again.

Its been 2 years since our last visit and can't tell you how much we were looking forward to it. Our conversation there consisted of talking about Sues homemade biscuits and what we should have for breakfast. Once you have experienced these you will totally understand why!!! Sue and Pete welcomed us like old friends and showed us to the Chamomile room (Gorgeous!!) They couldn't do enough for us and quickly sorted us out with directions and booked us a table at a local pub. Their love for their business and their home oozes out of every pore. We have had a wonderful break and feel completely rested. We saw loads of wildlife including 4 deer! We certainly won't be waiting another 2 years for our return visit and in the meantime we have Sue's recipe for her biscuits!! (what a result!!) Already looking at our calendar to book in again!

Room Tip: can't go wrong!!

From the moment we booked the Chamomile room online Sue and Pete were nothing short of fantastic. Their attention to detail and obvious desire for their guests to enjoy themselves was clear throughout. On the morning of our arrival Sue called us to advise us of the best route to them due to heavy snow that had fallen in the previous few days, we arrived much earlier than planned but this was no trouble and within minutes we were presented with cream tea which was delicious.

The room itself was stunning with a huge bed beautiful quality bedding and a brilliant view over the surrounding fields. There were lots of added extras which we didn't expect - home made cookies, fresh milk, make up remover pads and cotton buds which were all a lovely touch. Both Sue and Pete took the time to find out what we had planned and if there was anything they could do for us - we were very well looked after with restaurants and taxis booked for us and discounted tickets for the thermal spa.

We were given a huge menu for breakfast to choose from all of which was as good as it sounded, one of the highlights for us was Sue's home made granola you must try this!!

Due to the weather Sue and Pete were both very helpful in terms of which roads to take into Bath and where to park - the B&B has an extensive range of maps, leaflets for local attractions and recommendations of places to eat which was more than helpful to us.

We would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to friends!!!!

Cheryl and Ben.

Stayed here in Nov 2012 and our stay was absolutely perfect! Sue & Pete didn't mind that we arrived early as my partner flew in from the states - in fact they even baked us yummy cookies! We stayed in the Lavender room, which is very cosy and has classic vintage-inn feel to it.
The breakfast is delicious. You can pick what you would like to eat and at what time from a menu. The menu itself is full of variety and fresh products - and suitable for vegetarians.
Its a 20min car ride to Bath, which was fine but be aware the roads are very dark and narrow so if you aren't used to driving on these roads - drive slow!!
We went to Thermae Spa which is also highly recommended!
All in all a perfect romantic getaway for both a Londoner and a New Yorker!

Room Tip: Lavender room was great!

From beginning to end, our stay at Fern Cottage was exceptional. Everything exceeded our expectations, from Pete coming to pick us up from the local village to Sue offering us freshly made scones and clotted cream when we arrived, they really go above and beyond. After a very warm welcome and tour around the cottage and grounds, we were shown our room, the 'Lavender Room'. Beautifully decorated and presented, it was exactly how I'd imagine a country cottage B&B to look. The attention to detail is clear to see with dried rose and twig decorations on the beams and plush Laura Ashley bedding. The bathroom was perfectly clean and came with bathrobes and little extras like make-up removal pads, toothbrushes and shaving kits in a little dish on the side. It was wonderfully comfortable to stay in and with a view of fields out of the window you really felt like you'd got away from it all.

The breakfasts both mornings were equally faultless. The choice was huge and all freshly cooked, with a selection of homemade granola, yoghurts, homemade jams, cooked breakfasts and a range of 'special' breakfasts. We left each morning feeling very satisfied.

We really can't say enough nice things about Sue & Pete and Fern Cottage. They deserve all the wonderful reviews they get on here and we will absolutely be back again when we want to come visit Bath and Bristol. You can really tell they are genuinely nice people and they love what they do and it shows in all the hard work they put into making this B&B really superb.
