I booked this accommodation because of its online reviews and its proximity to the Northumbrian Coastal Path and was absolutely delighted. On arrival, I was made to feel comfortable and very welcome, with a lovely pot of tea in front of the homely log burning stove in the guest lounge. Nothing was too much trouble for Christine and Richard and their grown up daughter Lindsey, who run the B&B, and it did not take me long to feel that I had arrived at a home away from home.
My room, the St Cuthberts Room, was very new and absolutely immaculate with a lovely en suite, super comfy bed and all home comforts. I slept like a log!
Just a few minutes off the A1 at the Alnwick Gardens turn off (the directions on Number One's website were excellent and got me there straightaway) and within minutes of the beautiful coastline, I heartily recommend that anyone seeking B and B accommodation in this area should try Number One Springfield.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- One of our guests said that they couldn't believe all the good reviews, and they were too good to be true. Well, unlike others, they are. We never chase you to add a review here. We just aim to make your stay a pleasurable memory, (and we brag a bit about Northumberand) Number One is cleverly placed between the Heritage coast and the inland attractions of Alnwick, Rothbury, and the Cheviot. We took great care to provide comfortable beds, and we try to give great breakfasts. Our Guest's Comments book says it all. "Made to feel welcome" "Wonderful bed" "Excellent breakfast" ... more less
