Tried several restaurants in Pont L'Eveque and this is one of our favourites. It is a lovely old restaurant with no pretence of being anything other than what it is.
The fish dishes here are excellent and presented simply, but well. The food is honest and you get none of those arty smears of sauce across the plate, you get exactly what you need, good food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to savour their food whilst enjoying in it's simplicity.

I had chosen 2 other restaurants to go to in this town, both great reviews here, but both were unfortunately shut, so we walked around the town and came across this one, I had not read any reviews about it.
The restaurant has 2 sections, we were pointed to sit at the not so nice looking section (this section could be a hotel restaurant anywhere in the world with no atmosphere), but we said that we wanted to sit at the cosy, very French looking section and that was luckily no problem, no idea why they pointed us to the other side.
The bread was wonderful, thick and crusty, a nice change to a baguette.
The standard of 3 main courses of meat could have been much beter: the steak was on the tough side, 2 plates of beef had too much fat left on them and a struggle to get the nice bits of meat out. The duck was well cooked.
The vegetable, chicory, was tasteless and cannot understand that they would even put it on the plate, it was not well cooked.
There was however a delicious potato gratin which was lovely and hot (we found every-where we were eating that nothing was really hot) and it was probably the best part of the main course. But reading reviews I do wonder if the lovely taste was due to a very good retail food warehouse that made it and that is was hot due to that is was left long in the microwave….
I had probably the most worse dessert of my life here: tinned pears with artificial cream, the chocolate sauce which came with it was rich and a wonderful taste, but too rich to eat on its own. The evening before we ate at a Chinese buffet restaurant and they had chocolate ice-cream which had a strange distinct brown color, the taste was not so good either, the chocolate ice-cream here had exactly the same color, it was the same. This is very cheap ice-cream and you can hardly call it ice-cream. It seems that desserts are not high on their priority. Such a shame.
The waitress was very friendly and this part of the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, for us the food did not come to the same standard as these 2 things.

Just driving through at lunchtime on a wet Sunday we were lucky to get a table in this lovely old restaurant ,no pretensions just old fashioned French.
Warmly welcomed into a room full of locals,-a good sign.
My smoked salmon followed by duck confit was spot on,could not have asked for better
My wife had snails, followed by hake and then apple pie all of which she enjoyed
Price excluding drink 36€ a bargain
