“Reliving Normandy June 1944, an experience of a lifetime”
Reviewed May 14, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

From the early morning walk through the dew covered grounds surrounding the Manor, to the marvelous French breakfast (with that bread to die for!), to the days thrilling, moving and often emotional journeys through the events of D-Day, this was the one of the absolute best experiences that we’ve had in our many travels. The accommodations were worthy of a 5 star rating. Coming back to the Manor in the late afternoon to a time of relaxation and fond reminiscing of the day’s activities and excursions, followed by a delicious dinner and lively discussions around the table, made us all feel like we were at home.

Ben’s knowledge goes well beyond expectations. Battle scenes came alive as he spoke to us. His explanations of the events are not just a regurgitation of facts, but a truly heartfelt encounter with a man who feels deeply about the events themselves. This is Ben’s heart - and you see/feel it at every venue visited.

Thank you, Ben and Jaye, for an incredible 3 days. Words can’t describe our time with you. This was on our bucket list, and the bucket is now filled to overflowing!

“There aren't enough superlatives to describe our experience!”
Reviewed May 11, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We had an engaging, educational, exciting and most memorable time with Ben and Jaye. Accommodations and food were both top-notch. We felt like we were staying in a French manor with old friends! Ben's tour guide skills are amazing and did, as others have mentioned, bring history alive. My head and heart are full to bursting with new knowledge and new friends. Don't miss out on an opportunity to "walk in the footsteps of heroes" with Ben.

“Don't book anywhere else! Cannot wait to go back!”
Reviewed February 24, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

What an amazing time we had. Ben and his wife Jaye are the most gracious hosts you could ever imagine. Ben is so incredibly knowledgable and took us to not only the important sites for D-Day but weaved stories of both the French people who were liberated and the lives of American soliders who experienced the war during this time. Jaye made wonderful home cooked meals and tailors your meals to any type of food preferences you may have (mine being vegetarian). It felt like we had known them for 20 years! We cannot wait to return and have Ben teach us more about the history of the war. We look forward to sitting around the kitchen table in their beautiful home and having wonderful meals and chatting away the evening.

“Meaningful reflection on WWII history”

My Dad ( 91 yrs. old & a WWII Vet ; served in the Pacific Theater), my Sister and Brother-in-law and I spent three days exploring the Normandy area and listening to the D-Day history via stories ben told of men who were there and gave their lives. We have talked about a trip to Normandy for some time and when I found out about Ben and his Tour Guide skills...I knew this was the trip for us. My Dad was so moved by the stories of men, his age during the War, and how they served their country in the Normandy area. We have re-lived our few days with Ben over the family dinner table many times since.
My Brother - in - Law had a cousin who was killed in Normandy. Ben did extra research on him for us. What an exceptional experience

“We didn't know what we didn't know!”
Reviewed December 26, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

My wife and I did a European river cruise that ended in Amsterdam. We have always wanted to visit the American Cemetery and pay our respects to my wife's uncle who was killed on June 6, 1944 aboard the USS Rich. After much searching on the "best way" to see the "beaches" we decided to go with Ben and Jaye Trumble, what a great choice!

My wife and I have read the books about D-Day, and seen the movies and Band of Brothers. We thought we had a good understanding and knowledge of what took place on D-Day! From the outset it was obvious we were in for a memorable and enjoyable learning experience! Ben's knowledge of the many individual events and total movements of all forces and their effect on the events of June 6, 1944 is an education! His narratives and visuals give you a far greater appreciation of what took place on D-Day then one can ever gain from a book or movie regardless of their accuracy! One cannot appreciate the "Bocage" until you physically stand next a hedgerow, or what the "bluffs" above the beaches are really like until you stand on the beach and then walk along the bluffs. In summation we knew very little about the multiple "small" events you don't read about in the books or see in the movies that Ben so accurately describes which increases ones appreciation of what the men of D-Day overcame and accomplished to secure our freedom! A sincere thank you to Ben from the two of us. Our time spent with Ben and Jaye at their French Manor home is in total agreement with the other positive comments one finds in the other reviews. We were fortunate to be the only guests on a late October tour which gave us all of Ben and Jaye's time....we contend that Jaye could easily be a master chef in a world class restaurant if she so desired. Simply put, the accommodations could not have been better. We are convinced the only way to appreciate June 6, 1944 is to spend two days and three nights with Ben and Jaye.

“Authenticity without all the commercialism - the best tour of the Normandy invasion”
Reviewed October 28, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Dad and I recently decided to take a father/son trip to Normandy.

After much googling and reading of reviews, we decided on the D-Day Tours Company, with Ben and Jaye Trumble. And what a FANTASTIC decision we made. The experience exceeded all of our expectations.

We chose the two day tour and added a third day. Dad and I both thought we got a very good perspective on the Normandy invasion, with the first day focusing on the individual soldiers and their heroic efforts in securing the success of the invasion, while the second day was focused on the sheer size of the invasion, the Beaches, the German defenses and the American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, and the third day was devoted to exploring the British beaches and visiting two more cemeteries, the British and German. The British cemetery at Bayeux was so moving.

Ben is an excellent tour guide and offers an insight into the D-Day Campaign not offered by other tour companies.

The accommodations were wonderful. Our rooms were very comfortable; we could not have wished for more.

And the food!!! Jaye is a wonderful chef and the meals were hearty and just plain delicious. She also makes an excellent cup of tea…

There are literally dozens of Normandy tours, but there are only one Ben and Jaye. If you are looking for the BEST TOUR of Normandy, there is only one choice, The D-Day Tours Company.

“Fabulous!!!”
Reviewed October 8, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

I visited Normandy and Chambre de Hote mostly because my father was interested in the experience. I have to admit that being at the beaches and with narrative from a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic man in Ben Trumble completely made the journey for me. With pictures of the time and standing in exact spots of the pictures you could visualize the events.
Ben's wife Jaye is an absolute delight and a terrific cook. The accommodations were cozy, homey and comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend this experience if you are considering Normandy.
