A little hard to get to but worth the effort! Secluded but not overpriced like Phuket or Koh Samui.

Doable with babies but not recommended.

Yes, if you are going to be in Langkawi, why not take that 1 hour ferry ride to Lipe - in terms of snorkeling/ island hopping, it is better than Langkawi (though in terms of coral and fishes, Perhentian Island in Terengganu is better. For Muslims, though stray dogs are a bit too many and too friendly for us to walk down the road without a care in the world; halal food are easily available and most importantly, just divine. everything we tasted, from fried rice, salad, tom yam, Thai pancake, sticky rice with mango were lovely. Which made me question why was the breakfast at my expensive hotel - Anda Resort - a bleah? Anyway I digress.
But be prepared to pay a lot for your food, even at regular small neighbourhood eating places. Maybe it is something to do with the fact that all ingredients have to be transported to the island from the mainland. But what about the seafood; didnt they catch them fresh from the sea around us?
Shop around for accommodation (range is between RM90 to RM700 per night per room). We used a travel agent in Langkawi, Kash Island Adventures. This is a plus especially if you dont want to wait in line too long for the ferry tickets or deal with having to plan the itinerary once you are on the island. It can be easily done but since we were a party of 11, I thought travel agent was the way to go.

Nice looking island with awesome beaches, especially sunrise beach, plenty of accommodations to choose from and lots of entertainment. Essentially a very touristy island but different from Koh Phi Phi. Where Koh Phi Phi is over crowded with bare chested tattoo-ed western tourist, Koh Lipe attracts more Asian tourists wearing identical shirts.

Dubbed the Maldives of Thailand, it truly lives up to expectations. To get away from tourists, avoid Pattaya beach. Sunrise beach is the best to soak in the sun, sand and sea with minimal disturbances from other tourists!
