“A welcoming oasis — I wouldn’t stay anywhere else”
Reviewed November 14, 2009

The end of the story first: For any return visit to Alaçatı or the Çeşme peninsula, Sedirli Ev is the only place I’d stay. In fact, if there wasn’t a room available, I’d try to change my travel dates rather than stay somewhere else.
Now from the start: when we first arrived at Sedirli Ev, we were a bit worried we had made a wrong choice. It’s in a new building, outside of the historic center of town, and at the edge of town, closer to the elevated highway and the bus depot than we’d usually ever consider. But once we settled in, saw the attractive back yard with its unusual curved pool, wandered through the house and the comfortable, spacious guest rooms and — most importantly — chatted with Zeynep, we knew we had chosen wisely. Yes, Zeynep has filled her place with photos, collectibles, quirky stuff, but so have so many, many forgettable B&Bs and inns. But Zeynep’s genuine welcome, warmth and openness are unmatched anyplace I’ve stayed, from New England to New Zealand to China. We felt as if we were staying at the home of the close friend of a close friend who we somehow had never met before.
Our stay at Zeynep’s home — I even think of it that way, rather than “at Sedirli Ev” — was completely relaxing. Breakfast poolside featured preserves made by Zeynep’s mother, home-cured olives, cheeses, fruits, home-baked bread: two of us were served easily enough for four. Our second day there, Zeynep mentioned that sometimes, if guests are interested, she makes dinner. After we went to the wonderful local bazaar just a few blocks away, I mentioned to her that among the great-looking thing we saw were beautiful sardines from Cesme. That night, Zeynep’s incredibly delicious dinner — one of the best we had anywhere in Turkey — centered around those sardines grilled by Zeynep’s friend at the poolside barbecue, served along with a copious spread of vegetables, salads and fruit, with the rakı and wine flowing. And several of Zeynep’s longtime friends joined us around the table for dinner: it was all a perfect dinner at home, everything we could have hoped for but something so rare to encounter.

We have realy enjoyed our stay at Sedirliev. We took back in our respective memory great discoveries of the area and very nice conversations with our host Zeynep.Coming from Istanbul, we enjoyed the tranquility, the proximity of great beaches and the sea and the opportunity to discuss how Turkey is evolving.
We were surprised at our arrival in the town of Alaçati by the urban developements and new constructions and expansion of this small charming town. Sedirliev is located between a tourist development around the bay were wind surfers will enjoy the most exiting sport conditions and the charm of the old city that has been refurbished with taste and respect of the tradition. It is a boutique hotel that offers calm, comfort and great attention of its owner to meet your interest s while respecting your need of privacy .
We hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we have.

My sister and myself stayed for 3 days last week in this lovely and wonderful hotel, but actually it is not a hotel cause you feel like at home. All the decoration in the rooms as well as its garden and atmosphere is created to feel you relaxed the whole time. Staff is absolutely very friendly and the owner Zeynep Erdem is always there for any issues to ensure you enjoy during your stay.
It is a 5min walking distance to the Alacati Center where all restaurants are located and therefore more recommended to stay here instead of in the Center where you have no chance gettting any silence after 8pm..

Juliana and I stayed here this August for our holidays. What more is there to say thatn what has been said already? When we were looking for places to stay in Alacati we wanted to stay in one of the boutique hotels there. As soon as we say the website for the hotel and the reviews on here Sedirli Ev was a favourite. We arrived late at night (somewhere around 1am) to be greeted by Zeynep, the owner. This was clearly the marker in the ground in terms of the level of service we then enjoyed for the remainder of our stay. During our holiday we also took a short trip to Chios (Xios) and for both of us we were happy to return to this fantastic little hotel. The level of service, friendliness and cleanliness was simply excellent. We felt at home immediately and for the whole stay. Nothing was too much and Zeynep and her staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was extremely comfortable. She is simply a fantastic host who understands what guests need and how to treat them - something all to often forgotten in many hotels. I would highly recommend Sedirli Ev to anyone looking to stay in Alacati. Thank you Zeynep!

We just returned from our trip to Alacati/Cesme in Turkey where we stayed at Sedirli Ev. Before going there we did a long research of course about where to stay and this hotel caught our attention because of it's warmly and carefully decorated rooms and the many appraisals by visitors of the staff and especially the owner, our beloved Zeynep.

Once arrived after midnight we found here waiting for us in the hotel to welcome us, which was very thoughtful and attentive. Our holiday started with a warm feeling of feeling welcome and home.

During the 10 nights we stayed there we had the choice to stay in several rooms but since all of them were beautifully decorated and very spacious (which we needed after so many days of shopping:) ) we decided to stay in the room we were. The bookshelf with a good variety of books, the little boxes with the chewing gums left on our pillows, the chaise longue overlooking the pool and landscape gave the room a personal touch next to the comfort we experienced through the beds, a fridge, flatscreen tv, airconditioning and the well equiped bathroom.

What we liked most was the breakfast every morning, where Zeynep would join us shortly for a little chitchat asking us how our day went. It made us feel very much at home, like we were joining a family breakfast every morning. Only a family member would do his/her upper best to help you with everything which is what we got there. The owner did everything she could to make our lives easy, from bringing us to the beach a couple of times, the hairdresser, the city center, enjoying a nice glass of wine at a place where we all went to see the beautiful sunset, a nice dinner at her place with home made delicacies. Things you would not get in a regular hotel.

This place is truly a little gem in Alacati. The little village, which is at walking distance has many wonderful restaurants, shops and everything else you need. Public transport is also well arranged in case you want to visit different places and beaches.
On the beautiful market on Saturdays which is practically starting right in front on the hotel you can find beautiful stuff from handmade jewellery to clothes, bedding, organic grown vegetables and fruits.

In short Sedirli Ev and Alacati gave us everything we needed from a relaxing holiday: The warmth/hospitality, the hip and trendy village restaurants, the calmness, the beautiful beaches, the friendly people, great food, beautiful environment...... We can't wait to go back very soon!

Thank you Zeynep, Yurdal and all the staff for making this stay so special!

Love,

J&R

I had great party of 50 people for my birthday. Mostly foreigners and family, all the family stayed in Sedirli Ev, we were hosted as if we stayed in a private house, our breakfasts were unforgettable, everybody in a very warm ambiance. My birhtday party was great, the organization of Zeynep Erdem (the owner of the hotel), the food, the service, everthing was just SUPERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!.

I highly recommend you this nice and warm place for long vacation,, long week-end or for any other event.

My husband and I visited Turkey for the first time in late June/early July of this year (2009) and we absolutely loved it! My sister, who has been to Turkey several times over the past few years loves the country, in fact, it is her favorite place in the world to visit! I had heard my sister praise the infinite charms of Turkey including the warmth, friendliness and hospitality of the many Turkish people she met and befriended over the years. So, my expectations were very high when I arrived in Turkey. And my experience there was beyond my highest expectations!

We decided to start our journey in the Northern Aegean since we wanted to visit a part of Turkey where we would see the famed beauty of the Turkish countryside but also get the opportunity to interact with local people without hoards of foreign tourists. Hence we spent our first week in Turkey driving around a small area west and north of Izmir. We flew into Izmir connecting in Istanbul, rented a car at the airport and arrived in Alacati after a short 1.5 hour drive. What a way to start our Turkish journey! We could not have wished for a better place to start our exploration of this beautiful country than Sederli Ev, our home for the first two nights in Turkey. I decided to stay at Sederli Ev after contacting close to 20 different small hotels and b & b's in Alacati. Although most were responsive and eager to host us, the reason I decided on Sederli Ev was because of a gut feeling I had when I spoke with the owner Zeynep (Erdem). She said she was looking forward to welcoming us into her secret garden, and I knew she meant it!

Zeynep received us with warmth and friendliness from the moment we arrived and not only tended to our needs but actually anticipated it often. She is a lovely lady who welcomed us into her "home", treated us to the most delicious breakfasts in her garden and made our stay at Sederli Ev so very memorable. Sederli Ev offered us the best of both worlds-a cozy, intimate atmosphere affording privacy at the same time when we wanted it. The b & b is tastefully decorated with a large sunny garden in the back to enjoy the lavish tasty breakfast and drinks. Zeynep kindly offered to have dinner prepared for us but we chose to dine at one of the many fine restaurants in Alacati town.

The room we stayed in on the first floor was spacious and sunny. Staff at Sederli Ev was friendly and professional. The location which is a short walk from the town center works well. Our stay at Sederli Ev with Zeynep in charming Alacati was the perfect beginning to our journey! I recommend it wholeheartedly and look forward to the day when we can return to Sederli Ev for a visit with Zeynep in her beautiful "home".
