Located conveniently next to highway 40, nestled between St.Lazare and Hudson, Mon Village is a decent restaurant with a good selection of meal options.
On this night we both opted for the table d'hote, our dinner began with the duck wrapped in phyllo pastry-it was a great start and I highly recommend this. I then had the baked seafood with vegetables and baked potato, the selection of seafood included salmon, scallops, and shrimp all cooked to perfection-very juicy and fresh. The baked potato was remarkably large, but cooked very well too.
My wife opted for the prime rib, we both decided we had tasted better prime rib at steakhouses both in Montreal and Ottawa, but still it was definitely above average.
For dessert, the eggnog cheesecake was very good, as was the Grand Marnier chocolate pate with a raspberry coulis. I must say that Mon Village really excelled with their desserts, excellent in both flavor and presentation.
Service was better than average, they employ a rather large waitstaff and most were very attentive and seemed interested.
The ambiance was just ok, as with most restaurants in this area, it seems par for the course that dining areas are kept to a moderate to loud roar. Rather obnoxious, and renders the place sort of unfit for romantic occasions unless you luck out and eat there on a quiet night where it's not so busy. Pity as the establishment itself is incredibly charming.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place. You get incredible value for the price paid, and the quality of the food is excellent.

I have to admit I haven't enjoyed brunch this much in a long time. It's all done buffet style, with 4 distinct stations. There's a desert station, a crepe station, hot food and salad/cold appetizers. The restaurant is a wonderful rustic cottage-like setting with real fireplaces and wood-plank walls. You have to try the mini-croissants.... flaky and crusty on the outside and heavenly soft on the inside and warm all over. They were as good as the croissant in Paris.
It's not only the pastries which are great. There's a great variety of food. Carved roast beef, eggs benedict, crepes, salmon lox, apple crumble, etc... They manage to pack it all in a cozy atmosphere.
The service is also fantastic. Friendly, not too intrusive... professional and attentive... en Francais and English.
Value is great. 24 dollars + tip for a great buffet with coffee. They have two servings... one at 11 and another at 1 PM. Get a reservation because they're usually packed.

Enjoyed dinner in the pub section. There is a formal dining room. The fireplace was going lending a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the homemade beer batter fish and chips. I wasn't disappointed. The fries were freshly home made and cut in large pieces instead of those processed julienne fries. The tartar sauce just the right amount of tangy. My dinner partner ordered the steak which was so tender you didn't need a knife to cut it. The only criticism is they use Equal. It makes the coffee bitter. If McDONALD's and Tim Hortons can offer Splenda then why can't this fine restaurant do the same. it's the only all natural sweetener that can be heated up and it doesn't change which also makes it a great choice for cooking no sugar added desserts which was also missing on the dessert menu. But this restaurant was excellent.

very cozy atmosphere...great fireplace....personable service, too! location is great as you can get right off Hwy 40, and it's just a skip, hop, jump away...the building is vintage and rustic, lots of character

I've been to Mon Village so many times over the decades I can't recall exactly the number. Overall, a very good dining experience, good food, decent service, old school charm. Stick to the old favourites (pub food) and you won't be disappointed. We'll be back.
