“Dissapointing”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

We have visited the Hospital Inn many times, often as part of a large family group and the food and service is always excellent. However it is always pot luck as to wether they can cater for my young son who is allergic to wheat, gluten and dairy (as are a large percentage of people in this day and age) On this occaision he was able to eat an adults meal of the menu of gammon and egg, but when we tried to order desserts we were told there was nothing in the entire kitchen that they could use to make him a dessert. This resulted in the entire group going without ordering desserts. We will go to the Boars Head next time where they go out of their way to ensure a little boy does not have to go without.

“1st visit”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

We were invited to dine at the Hospital Inn's as a change from its sister pub/restaurant "The Beaumont" . There is quite a varied menu and our party of four selected across the menu.I must complement the Black pudding Stack dish served both as a starter and main, well presented and very tasty. The main course lemon sole was under cooked and swamped in orange sauce. The sizzling beef was chewy and again swimming with sauce .I've always believed that that the sauce was there to complement the dish not overpower it. Everything else was fine, service was good, polite and efficient. Nice atmosphere good selection of real ale and everything priced well and good value. A little fine tuning would help

“A Great Meal”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

14 of us went to the Hospital Inn for a family meal on Easter Saturday. Despite the restaurant being very busy our meal was served relatively quickly with a reasonable wait between courses. I tend to be a little pessimistic about the ability of restaurants to get large orders right first time but I have to say that the staff at the Hospital Inn managed to do so which really added to our enjoyment of the evening. Service was very good with pressure for us to move when we'd finished our meal.
The food was very good. My only criticism being that several of us found the portions too large. I for one, would have liked a dessert but was simply too full after having had a starter and main course!
The Hospital Inn is well worth a visit.

“Must be good I have been back several times”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

I have met people here on business and socially. Food always good and varied. Good size portions excellent value. Service fine. However I have always been at lunch time and had no trouble getting a table, I am told it can get pretty busy on some nights

“Average pub grub”
Reviewed March 13, 2013 via mobile

This is your typical pub.

We arrived in a part of 6 and hadn't booked a table so had an hours wait. This was perfectly acceptable as it was a Saturday and we hadn't booked a table. We played snooker to occupy our time.
When we did get a table, we ordered and our food came 30 mins apart from each persons. Some of us waited 10 mins for them to bring the others food and presumed its take no time so started their food slowly but ended up finishing their Course and others still waited a further 10 mins for their dish.
There were tables that were seated after us and had 3 courses where as we only had 2 and had left by the time we got all of our main courses!!
Deserts were the same with the timing problem.
We did air the issue with the bar staff who took 10% off the bill.
