If you are visiting The Canoe Man - or any of the many other attractions in the area - and are looking for accommodation - I can highly recommend Top Farm Camp Site. It's a fabulous location with the option of pitching a tent/caravan/motorhome or utilising one of the cosy, well equipped cabins. Quiet, peaceful and with some of the best views in Norfolk, it's also an ideal site for those travelling with dogs.

What a great day out. The Canoemans Bushcraft Day.

A short drive away from the Canoemans base in Wroxham we were driven by George in a mini bus to a secret location close to the river Bure. Hidden away in a thick forest we were led to our camp site which closely resembled the set on I'm a Celebrity get me out of here.

Although it was raining we were well prepared with suitable clothing. We were quickly given a selection of Tarpaulins and rope and instructed to create a shelter that we could work under. In the centre of the camp was the camp fire which was soon ignited by our Bushcraft leader for the day Adrian. Flames quickly lapping at the kettles in readiness for a welcome cuppa! (Take your own cup)

After our shelters were carefully critiqued by each other for height, rain ingress proof and durability we took part in the one match challenge.

We had to forage through the forest for suitable material to create a fire ignite only by one single swan vesta match! Just remember it was damp and wet so dry material was at a premium. No natural products either. We all failed which in a real life situation would have meant we were doomed! However, we were quickly shown a range of solutions to competently overcome this problem creating fires with even using matches. We were then led along the river bank and instructed to a range of trees and plants that could be used to provide sustenance. Then back to camp with some plant life to make a herbal tea! Very tasty! Our official Bush Tucker trial!
Finally after a health and safety instruction we were shown how to use a knife correctly and fashion a small branch into a very handsome and effective tent peg. And more material lighting fires Awesome!

The day passed so quickly and my nine year old Grandson enjoyed every moment of it especially when a candle illuminated birthday cake appeared.

A really great day out learning a host of practical. I would recommend thus course to anyone. However, I would strongly recommend it to Dads, Mums and grandparents demonstrating to our future generations that there is life and fun beyond the ipad!

Myself and my partner went on a short trip consisting of two days canoeing and two nights camping along the river Bure. The scenery was beautiful and perfectly suited to exploring in a canoe. We were a bit worried about how far it was but we went at our own pace and easily completed the trip. Staff were really friendly and accomodating, and instructions were clear. The campsite was excellent with good, clean facilities. We stayed in Coltishall and the village had some good pubs with friendly locals, especially the Red Lion.
We will definitely come back and plan on exploring some of the other routes available.

Our daughters gave us the half day canoe trip as an anniversary present, we had a great day.
Although at the start the instructions were a little confusing, an hour before the trip we called into the shop at wroxham to clarify what we needed to do and when, customer service was excellent, staff member Sonia definiatly went the extra mile, she was great got us all the information we needed to have a stress free time and advised us of the best places to visit, we drove to the train station parked our car then caught the steam train to where the canoes and instructor (Sonia) was, she gave us training on how to canoe safely and what to do if we had any difficulties, we then canoed back up the river to where we parked the car, when we stopped we had a picnic which was a nice way to finish an enjoyable fun day, would strongly recommend to anyone of any age.
