There's not much to say about Casa Shangri La that hasn't already been said. I stayed at this hostel for about a week in total, and it was TRANSFORMATIONAL! Canoa, in general, turned out to be such a hidden gem on the coastline. This hostel doesn't make it hard to stay a while; there's a pool, showers, hammocks galore, an honor-system drink cooler, beautiful art-deco on the walls (yin-yang symbols, Ganesha, the world, nature scenes), a beautiful garden (complete with red & purple flowers and coconut trees!), surfboards to rent, internet, an outdoor cabana, and serene music. It's no wonder that most folks passing-by end up staying longer than expected. My favorite part was the price! Only $8 for a dorm room and a small amount more for private rooms. "Jerry" is incredibly helpful in giving bus & town directions and in his customer service (he speaks English, Dutch, and Spanish) I've met all sorts of travellers here, and we all have one thing in common: a love for Casa Shangri-la and the peace of mind that comes with it!!!

We werd planning to stay in Canoa for 2 nights but the hostel was so great that we spend 4 nights there. The room was big with hot shower . the owner and his wife are very friendly and eager to please. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the beer cheap.
The price for the room is only 10 dollar and the restaurants( bamboo restaurant is the best) are close by. The pool is great for cooling off

I would recommand everyone going to Canoa to stay at Cass Shangrila

Casa Shangri La was truly the highlight of our time in Canoa. The room and bathroom were clean and the beds were comfortable, all for an extremely good price - all this including a hammock on your private veranda, the beach a short walk away and a pool to top it all off! Jerry, the owner, is awesome. Him and his wife were extremely helpful and accommodating, and having the dogs around was a major plus too! All this makes me want to come back to Shangri La in the future. I highly recommend this place to anybody wanting to come to Canoa!

We stayed for the better part of a week and truly enjoyed this hostel. The owners are very kind, and keep the place very clean. The pool is excellent, the internet functions well, and there's always a pleasant breeze. We preferred to not stay on the beach, as it was very quiet and more calm. Plus, the price is unbeatable! It is definitely the best hostel and price in Canoa.

Looooved this place. Loved everything about it.

Big clean room, comfy bed, hot shower, hammocks, pool, two great dogs and very friendly owner. Total relax.

Don't be 'scared' that is a bit out of the centre, that's actually the great thing about it - it's really quiet and you'll get a good night sleep. And you're literally 5 minutes away from the beach and restaurants.
