A great hostel with amazing room. We were four friends that got a room for four (or maybe five) persons for $10 a night. Nice pool, very helpful owners, great relax area and good WiFi. Also loved the design inside the hostel. Very calm and still only 5 minutes walk from the beach (and all the noise) and all the restaurants (including Hotel Bambu). Possible to rent surf board for a good price at the hostel and they had very charming dogs.

After three weeks in Cuenca, Canoa was just what I needed. Spent 5 days luxuriating in the peaceful calm of the Casa Shangri La with it's open bar, cool pool, and comfortable rooms.
The beach and the small town of Canoa are just minutes away on foot. There are surfboards to rent at the Casa Shangri La if you are up for that. I chose to just spend some time relaxing in Canoa--- walks on the beach, swimming in the surf, laying on the beach or in a hammock, taking in the scene from the local beach bars and restaurants. Canoa is super laid back and I liked that.
Just a quick walk over the bridge and you are back at the Casa Shangri La where the music is always going, people are cool, and a hot shower and cosy room await.

Room Tip: I liked the upstairs rooms for their breeze and view.

This is the place to stay in Canoa! The laid back vibe and helpfullness of owner Jeroen and the staff made us feel at home directly. Great ook place to chill and to occasionally catch some waves. Surf gear can easily be rented and rooms and garden are beautifull. We definately recommend Shangri La.

The place is on the edge of Canoa, with a five to ten minute walk to both the beach and the town. This makes it the best place to stay in Canoa if you want to get away from the crowds. Inside the Dutch owner Jeroen has done everything to build his own little Bali-style resort. Clean with a nice garden and good pool. Very laid back and relaxing vibe. Being able to grab your own drinks adds to the laid back vibe. Very affordable as well. Definitely a recommendable place for a short, but also longer stay in Canoa.

This hostel is located away from the center of activity and noise and is gated for safety which is what makes it feel like a resort. The rooms are clean and the beds have mosquito netting. There is a pool to cool off in and chairs to relax and read in; a thatched cabana next to the bar is a nice way to spend time on the computer and still be outside enjoying music and la vida, and surfboards are available if you want to learn a new habit. These public spaces offer interaction and socializing with other guests which makes it fun. There are two friendly dogs on the premises, a Great Dane puppy and an older Scottish Terrier.
The only drawback is there is no formal kitchen but plenty of beer and a bar and a large outdoor grill which could be nice compensation. The owner was telling me that he has plans to organize a formal kitchen and offer a breakfast menu. There is no hot water but the reality is that it is so hot that hot water is not necessary and in fact, would be less refreshing. My favorite activity was to run in the mornings and then jump in the ocean. The hostel accesses a more quiet part of the beach so it felt like my own private oasis.

Room Tip: If staying for a ling time, ask for the room with a kitchen.
