“Love Hotel Bambu!”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

Hotel Bambu is fantastic. Out of the many hostals and hotels in Canoa, Hotel Bambu is located the closest to the beach, with the best restaurant in town, on-site. The hotel has hammocks, ping-pong, a pool table, happy hour, a book exchange and library, mosquito nets for the room, and provide safe storage for any surf board. It is gated with a night guard, so you can enjoy Canoa's night life at ease. The owner, Joust is fantastic! Very kind and helpful. I found absolutely nothing left to be desired!

Also, in exchange for picking up litter down the beach, the Hotel offers you a free cocktail. My favorite business policy yet!

Canoa is a great, lively town. Several other reviews complain about noise. If you like to stay on the beach and are a light sleeper, problem solved. Bring ear plugs!

We spent 4 nights at the Bambu and really enjoyed everything about it, room, food, ping pong, pool table, cocktails, staff and the other guests were great! The only problem we had was the noise from the bars on the beach at night, which is VERY loud, until midnight except for Fridays and Saturdays which is 2am! There's no music on a Sunday :-)

For the location, the price was right. $20 a night for a double bed with shared bathroom. The room and showers could've been cleaner but sand is a tough battle to clean.
Room was nice, had a mosquito net that helped. But being as it is canoa and I likened it to the jersey shore, there was music blasting all the time until about midnight every night except Sunday. Sunday was lovely and quiet.
The food was good but a bit over priced. We found that the surf shack down the street offers more bang for you buck.
Also while some of the cocktails are fairly priced it was $10 for a shot of whiskey. Quite high.
But overall we loved our stay. Wifi doesn't reach all the rooms but there's plenty of common area that's accessible.

I ate breakfast there almost every day that I was there. They have great food, and their hostel is one of the only ones that's right on the beach. The sitting area for meals is literally on the sand and has a great view to the ocean. I've always wanted to actually sleep there but it's always been too full when I go to Canoa. That says something!

We were in a group of four so we rented a room with 4 single-beds , I recommend room No.19 if you have a similar group , otherwise there are rooms that are not as good as the one I mentioned before . I like this hotel not only for the ping-pong table but for the food it is really good , it is at the end of the beach so you hardly listen to the noise .
There is a safety deposit box inside each room but we did not use it because of reviews saying it was not safe , instead we left all our money in the car they have a big garage so it was safe there.
The shower is big enough and better that the ones we saw in other hotels .

Room Tip: Bigger rooms are better.

After our first option didn't work(closed) we found this place. Looks great from outside and is at the north end of the beach(quiet). Only 1 block from the action but quiet. Didn't really have to leave once we put things in our room, but we felt that we had to explore the town. Shared a room with another motorcycle rider because they didn't have a 2 bed room available. Not a problem. Clean room every morning. Faucet outside the door to clean the sand off. Bathrooms very close. Shower was too hot or too cold is the only issue. Food was great, drinks had plenty of alcohol and good prices. Great sitting areas for sharing laughs with our new friends. Will go again for sure! They even locked our motorcycles for us. Can't believe it was $10 a night! Love Ecuador.

This hotel offers a good variation of food, terras with view located directly at the sea and have a nice staff.
The wifi is ok but not very fast. The rooms are good with musquito net.
I recommend this hotel to everyone that wants to go to Canoa, its a beautifull place to RELAX.
Do not forget to bring earplugs since it can be noisy at nights.
