I was not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised.

Lovely great bed. Very old building and full of character. Creaky floors and slopping ceilings...All very charming indeed.

Was made to feel very welcome and have enjoyed evening meal.

Just loved The George - we stayed only one night on our way to Cornwall but loved everything about it, the reception, the room, dinner, the atmosphere in the bar, and the ghost who was not happy with my husband and tried to smother him while pressing him down on the bed during the night . Darn it - I slept right through the visitation. Next time!! Would stay again in a flash.

Room Tip: Get the one with the ghost :-)

As a pre-Christmas treat to ourselves, we spent 2 nights in one of the superior rooms (Samuel Pepys). We have stayed before, in summer, but at this time of year it is the perfect cosy retreat. There's a relaxed friendly atmosphere and the staff are lovely. We had dinner both evenings in the bar area and the food was well presented and very tasty. With its locally sourced ingredients the full English breakfast is something to look forward to as well. We would highly recommend the George Inn, not just for its sense of history, but also because of the hard working, welcoming staff. We'll be back soon!

After much deliberation decided to stay at the George Inn for the weekend and I'm so pleased we did. On arrival and throughout our stay the staff were superb. In particular one individual (Paul) was ever so helpful and took the time to see us to our room and make us feel right at home. If only other places had staff like this gentleman. We spent the night in the bar area which had a well tended roaring open fire , drinking Wadworth's real ale and eating some superb pub food-what more can a man want! We were sleeping in the Samuel Pepys room which was adorned with lovely furniture including a four poster. Breakfast was superb and in short we were sad to leave. Will definitely be going again and thank you to the staff for making it such a lovely weekend

Just had a wonderful 5 night stay at this Inn. Not a hotel so felt cosy and relaxed. The inn itself is amazing and oozes it's history. The only thing warmer than the welcome from the staff was the log fire. A fantastic winter retreat.

Food was great as well. Nice choice for breakfast and the lunches and dinners were beautiful. Being an inn there is a great selection of ales as well.

Staff are lovely. Dogs are welcome and even the resident dog makes you feel welcome.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough

What a great place! Full of history and charm. Our room was warm, cosy, very comfy and homely. Loads of piping hot water for the bath. We had a really nice meal in the bar in front of a gorgeous open log fire. Breakfast next morning was good too, their full English was very tasty. Only slight negative was bathroom noise from neighboring rooms. Overall though we loved it and when we next need accommodation in this part of the country won't hesitate to book ourselves in here again.

Booked this accommodation for two nights while we visited Glastonbury and Bath. Situated in the middle of both, 15 min away Bath and about 30 mins away from Glastonbury. The pub itself is very old and has great character, feels very homely. The food and the service was excellent! We stayed in the Samuel Pepys room, great room to stay in other than my girlfriend woke up to hear the latch into the bathroom rattling on the first night. And both nights my phone, which was set up to do the sleep talk recording, was thrown off the bed side table. The second night i made sure it couldnt slip off the table and yet 2 mins after i turned the light off it was on the floor and under the bed again, along with the book i used to wedge it on the table! Other than that i can not recommend this highly enough!

Room Tip: The Sedgemoor Room is believed to be the most haunted, if staying in haunted rooms is your thing.
