I just simply love this old cosy Inn. Since over 7 years I'm a regularly guest and I'm still impressed of the fantastic vieuw you have from the garden. The food is very good and the breakfast is enormous. Next month I'm staying there again for a week and I know it will be wonderful as usual.

My husband and I spent Friday night in this fantastic historic inn, we had a very pleasant time. The room was very atmospheric as you would expect. It was warm clean and quirky.
We stayed in the Samual Pepys room. The floor was amazing in that it was slanted and the furniture had half the legs built up to make it level though we dare not put a drink on the bedside table as it slid along. This is by no means a complaint as we would have been disappointed if a building of this age and history was perfect.
We decided to eat in the bar and met some wonderful people who were local to the village, they were very friendly and engaging.
The food was lovely as we're the staff that served us. All that is except the manager, he was extremely effected and actually very boreish. At one point he picked a menu up from the holder causing another to fall to the floor, he then huffed and kicked it across the floor, another guest picked it up and put it back leaving the really lovely (though heavily put upon) lady behind the bar having to apologise for this ridiculous behaviour.
Breakfast was very good and again the lady serving was lovely.
Well worth a visit and our 4 poster bedroom was great for us but would advise another room for those less able.

700 years old and dripping with atmosphere. Ilove old buildings when the floors slope one way and the ceiling the other. We stayed in the Samuel Pepys room, 4 poster bed and a very good en-suite. All the fires were lit in the inglenook hearths, comfort and warmth after a very cold but sunny day in Bath.
The food was adequate pub grub good and filling, however, I understand they intend to introduce an a la carte menu soon.(a very good idea).
The dinning room with its exposed "a" frame roof and rafters is lovely to look at.
Breakfast was, the whole works, excellent.

Would definately stay again .

We have stayed at the George twice now 1st time last summer we loved it and decided to go back again for valentines weekend and we we blown away all over again I can not recommend enough to all of you people to go and stay at the George the staff are out of this world they really will go the extra mile to ensure the guests are as comfortable as possible, the food is also as first class as the service we ate in the restaurant every morning and evening of our four night stay at the george inn I would really find it hard to find any complaint with our stay at this beautiful inn we love it here and can't wait to go back again.

Stayed at this hotel for one night for Valentine's weekend- and it was an absolutely fabulous experience.

Arrived to find plenty of parking, and fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Checked in at the bar (great to not have to go through a formal procedure) and were immediately shown to our room (Coombes). We found a spacious, immaculate from with a large comfy bed, loads of tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits, and a lovely bathroom.

After quickly unpacking we made our way to one of the two bars (both with large open fires), and enjoyed a couple of drinks in a very relaxed environment, prior to dinner in the hotel's separate dining room - which was a fantastic experience in a friendly & unhurried environment. The waitress service was excellent from start to finish and the food of a very high quality.

We then returned to the bar and enjoyed a couple of drinks in 'the Dungeon', which is a beautifully furnished room just off of the main courtyard.

Finally, the breakfast that was served on Sunday morning was without a doubt the finest that I have had in many years of sampling different hotels - award winning sausages being the highlight.

Overall, as you can probably guess from my comments, an absolute quality experience from start to finish - I would struggle to find even a minor fault in the hotel, the rooms, the staff, the food or the undoubted value for money.

Stayed here on a weekend trip to bath. What a wonderfully original historic and truly atmospheric old Inn. Like staying on s film set. From impressive inglenook open fires to the quaint cobbled yard. If it's antiquity you're looking for you won't be disappointed. Check in was via the bar. No one was around to check us in and I had to goin search of staff with the help of a pub regular!
Our standard room was small but adequate and very comfortable and warm. Good selection on tea tray. But needed stocking up! No bath in bathroom but lovely substantial shower and a selection of complimentary toiletries.
Breakfast was a fairly limited affair with a considerable wait for ordered items. As we breakfast late at the weekend after a lie in and a run (hell it isSunday!) kinda felt we being rushed out at 10am.
We dined on the previous evening and the dining room is a delight again with roaring open fire. Food interesting and delicious. We retired to the pub lounge for more candlelit and open fire ambience with the most delicious Shiraz. Staff pleasant but at times seemed pre occupied ?
The village itself consisted of 3 pubs several churches n a supermarket. A 15 min scenic drive out of bath and for £99 for b&b was well worth the trip
A delightful wonderfully very English proper olde Worlde English pub and worth a visit if inthe region. Would go bsck again anytime.

We were actually at one of the best pubs in Bath some weeks ago (the Star) when some of the old guys at the bar told us about the amazing pubs of Norton St Philip. Given there were three pubs & it was driving distance, we decided we ought to stay the night so did it over the Christmas holidays. Honestly, although I really enjoyed all the pubs, the inn was the best part! We got two fantastically interesting rooms (it was two couples). The other couple were newly together and "splurged" on the slightly more expensive room, and it was really perfect (the woman had never been to England before) but ours was intensely cool as well. We asked for quiet rooms on the web form & got them. I've been in the UK since 1991 but have never had such an "out of a movie" experience before. We wound up eating dinner there as well, and mine was great -- maybe the best of the four, but then I had the good sense to ask what was best on the menu & order it! I ordered a traditional pudding I'd never heard of & it was also amazing. Breakfast was also good. No one is rushing in a town like this, and no one was bothered that we were not very organised about getting out of our rooms either.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. There are plenty, but you may have to do some stairs!
