This was a fun place to visit. First, during planning our visit we were all uncertain about how scary it would be and it built up the excitement. When we actually went it was fun and scenic (I am sorry, but we kind of made fun to ourselves about some of the other people that were there that really were scared). On the exit side to the left there is a little restaraunt which overlooks the bridge and valley. I only had some chestnut shoju there, but I am sure that the food would be good and all the prices looked reasonable (Beer price was good as well). We visited the little stream below and walked n the water for some time (We actually went twice). I highly recommend wearing flip flops or some kind of rubber base beach shoe as there are quite a few pieces of rusting metal under the water. PS: Bathroom is immediately to the right of the bridge exit in small building.

The vine bridge is fun to go and walk across, especially if your other half is scared of heights and wobbly things - but for me it was the overall setting that was so nice. It was a beautiful sunny but chilly April morning when we went, and thankfully not many other people around. After wiggling across the bridge, we wandered down the road to see the little waterfall (left once you have gone across the bridge) and then climbed down on to the shore of the river, and walked along here for a while. Really a lovely spot for a cup of coffee and a break. We also came on a free evening trip from our hotel to see the bridge lit up at night. A little bit tacky but kids might like it! It glows green.

A fee of 500 yen per person is charged to cross this bridge. A vine suspension bridge that crosses a beautiful river below. This might not be the best attraction for children, it can be scary for those who are afraid of heights. I enjoyed the experience of crossing such a bridge and the view of the river below.

The Iya Kazurabashi seems to be the "been there, done that" sight for the Iya Valley. Busloads of Japanese tourists get out at the (way too) nearby parking complex, cross it, snap a picture, buy a souvenir and get back on the bus. I was there on a summer weekend, and had to wait in line to get my ticket to cross.

The bridge itself is fun and impressive. It admit, I was scared looking down through the planks to the river below. If you aim your camera just right, you can crop out the adjacent car road and massive carpark and get a great picture to take home.

If you are short on time or dependent on public transportation, Iya Kazurabashi is worth seeing. If you have more time, go to the Okuiya Niju Kazurabashi (Outer Iya Double Vine Bridges). They are an hour's drive further into the valley (towards Mt Tsurugi), and much nicer.
