We stayed here for 2 nights while we were exploring the Iya Valley in Feb 2012. It was a last minute booking and booked by a travel company near the train station in Tokushima. The Iya Valley itself is beautiful - overall however, I have mixed feelings about Awanosho. We stayed in Western style accomm at around $140.00 AUD per night (double room) - cheaper than Japanese style. There are shared toilet facilities and for showering, there is the bath/onsen. The rooms themselves were clean, dormitory style - but very dated, dreary and dark. The hotel is quite large, so it was a trek to the bath/onsen.. and walking around at night the hotel at night was kind of creepy! We had a car - so in terms of location there were no complaints - 5minute drive away from food. Everything in the Iya is so spaced out anyways, so it would be almost impossible to have accomm that is "centrally located". It was good for a last minute booking - but if you're planning a trip to the Iya, try plan ahead!
