It's a great place to enjoy Architecture and art. Most the places it's prohibited to capture of the photo but you are allowed to take photos in the "Alice in the Science World" gallery which is very funny and interesting part.

À spectacular set of buildings with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains , the Sagawa Art museum near Lake Biwa is worth a trip from Kyoto for those interested in modern architecture and Raku pottery. Since special exhibitions are part of the mix, visitors should check the website to find out what other artists are being exhibited in the space. The SAM cafe has a vegan option (soba noodles with Yuba), cake, sherbet and great coffee, with views over the surrounding pond. The museum is accessible by public transit, Tozai subway to Yamashina, JR line to Katata , Keihan bus, about one hour and a half from central Kyoto.

We were taken by friends to visit this Art Museum knowing nothing really about it but after experiencing especially the Raku Kichizaemon exhibition, it was indeed one of the highlights of our trip. We loved it and think about the experience often.

As many voter said, worth visiting here to see the architecture especially for architects and the students.
There are two main building combined each other.
The Building might be so simple construction, but you can feel much nature in the building.
Sunshine,wind,flow of water....

You can feel different aspects in each season.

Quite disappointing as drove all the way from Hikone to see the ‘magic’ attractions. Limited displays means we are done in 30 minutes and pretty nothing much more to offer.
