I stayed in this hotel for a one day and found this hotel to be very near to the station. So it is one of the better options if you are travelling to Hikone first time and don't want to spend time locating the hotel. The rooms are a bit smaller but clean. The beds could do with bigger size. Hikone castle is located very nearby about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

Room tip: Rooms facing the rail track have a better view but can be a bit noisy

Stayed in a non-smoking single room. Room is clean and slightly bigger than most of the hotels of the same price range in Japan. Has all the basic amenities. Very near the train station (Hikone) and Hikone Castle as well. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby that open till late night. Didn't manage to get a view of Lake Biwa (such rooms may not exist in this hotel since it is located in the middle of the city).

Room tip: Very accessible

We stayed here during a recent motorcycle trip in Japan. The hotel was a basic business hotel. Small rooms, no views. But the rooms were clean, warm and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. It is also fairly central with bars and restaurants around.

Kind of dumpy business hotel near the station. Small rooms and not so comfortable beds. Does the job, but only stay if the price is low. The smoking floor rooms smell very strongly. Gift shop and coffee machine in the lobby. Expensive bar there too.

I am a New Zealand short story writer who travels the world. My latest book is "Here Comes the Sun-Perhaps?"

Location
This hotel is located within walking distance from the castle and a 15 minute bike ride to the lake (the hotel provides free bikes).
To get to the hotel from Hikone Station, take the west exit and walk down the road turning off at the first right. Diagonally across from the hotel is a plaza with a supermarket, shoe shops, bag shops etc. At the end of the day the supermarket specials meal packages. The hotel is located central city.
Complementary
free bicycle use and traditional Japanese breakfast is included
Staff
polite and helpful
Room
Average 4 star, no safe. rooms clean and tidy
I found the step to the bathroom area to be too high and it could be a problem for elderly folk or those with bad knees.
