What a great place to stay! Max replied promptly to the email inquiry which made booking very easy. He collected us from the train station and even drove us down to an excellent local restaurant because it was raining.
The rooms were lovely with comfortable futons on traditional tatami and use of the other areas of the house as well. After visiting the island, we shopped in the local supermarket and made good use of the kitchen for dinner - a very pleasant change after many consecutive nights in restaurants.
Max's breakfasts have to be the absolute highlight. As most other reviewers have observed they are second to none!
Max is very knowledgeable about the area and shares his insights willingly. Great conversation, excellent food and a very welcoming environment. We highly recommend this property.

We only stayed one night at the Uno Slope House at the end of our trip across Shikoku and some of the inland sea islands. Max was a formidable host and he provided us a very friendly place to close out this trip. We were also intrigued by his explanation of the film projects he and his wife are engaging in. And we all loved his pancakes.

We had a great 3 nights at Uno Slope House. Max just made everything so relaxing and comfortable for us. He was there to pick our bags up from the station and directed us to the ferry port. He recommended great local restaurants like the mom and pop shop Osakaya which was wonderful. He had all the maps and schedules prepared for us. He also makes the most awesome pancakes.

The generousity and hospitality was just fantastic. There were a lot of nice touches down to the fact the house is very welcoming and homely. Jazz music floating in from the kitchen made it all so relaxing.

Don't just stop here overnight. There are plenty of places to go to from Uno port. We went to Naoshima, Teshima and Takamatsu. I loved travelling through the Seto Inland Sea by ferry and Uno Slope House was a great place to return to at the end of the day.

Like everybody else here, we look forward to returning again.

Our stay at Uno Slope House was like visiting in the home of a friend. Max, our host was charming, knowledgable, and generous and he makes one of the best breakfasts I had in Japan. My partner and I had both the Japanese and American pancake breakfast and were equally impressed. We went to Uno Slope House on the recommendation of friends who had visited Naoshima Island the year before, as we had planned to do. After meeting Max he encouraged us to explore Teshima Island as well, which extended our stay and enriched our travel experience. He also recommended a local restaurant serving Japanese home cooking where we ate a delicious dinner every evening for 4 nights. It was that good. We slept on futons on the tatami mat floor and enjoyed every moment of being a guest in Max's home. We plan to return, hopefully for the film festival. Book early and stay a few days.

Though we spent only one night at the Uno Slope House, I can highly recommend it. It is a very cosy place to stay on the mainland around Naoshima Island. The owner Max is very friendly, provides a lot of information and is very nice company.

I had a fantastic experience staying at the Uno Slope House---Max is very friendly and welcoming, and made sure I knew what the area had to offer. He also makes amazing pancakes in the morning. This is an ideal place to stay if you want to visit Naoshima or Teshima, which are really incredible destinations. The house is clean and comfortable. I look forward to returning.

My partner and I travel allot—and mostly we look for simple things in a hotel: Cleanliness, comfort and security. However, on very rare occasions, we come across hotels / b&b's that are actually great and memorable experiences in themselves. Uno Slope House is exactly that. The house is a beautiful authentic Japanese home and Max (the owner, who grew up in the house) was really interesting to talk to. On top of all that, the place is clean, conveniently located and Max goes to great lengths to make one's stay just perfect.
