“A little tranquil onsen town”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Wife and I spent a night at Yufuin at the height of Cherry Blossom season this year. The walk around the river and the cherry blossoms along with the Yufuin Mountain provides a great backdrop. The town was crowded with visitors, but I don't mind that. The little inn we stayed was great and we enjoyed the onsen and the food there. If you need to chill out and relax in the Oita area, I recommend you take a look at Yufuin. A lot of hotels and restaurants provide a great choice.

“Lovely and peaceful place”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

We stopped by Yufuin late afternoon on a sunny day in early April. We parked near the station and walked through the streets, arriving at Kinrinko Lake after a leisurely stroll. There were lots of nice-looking cafes, we bought some tasty bread. The lake was beautiful, we walked around it, which didn't take long. The colours would also be beautiful in autumn. We walked back, taking alternate back streets, collected the car and drove home. We were only there for a couple of hours, but it was very peaceful and definitely worth the trip!

“Yufuin - My Favourite Town”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

Yufuin is one of the best place of my trip in Kyushu. We stayed 2 nights and used it as a base for a side trip to Beppu but we felt we should have just stayed at Yufuin and enjoy ourselves instead. We liked the feel of the place - unhurried and very rustic. We loved the numerous side cafes and souvenir shops. When we arrived on the first day off the train at 130 pm, we were amazed at the size of the crowd of people just from where we stood outside the train station. Oh my.... speechless! Maybe it was because it was the local holidays!

Don't be misled into thinking the streets is just it, you have to walk around and explore. The walk by the river towards Lake Kirin was fantastic. We did it on the last day, very early and the shops were closed. I am very sure it would have been great fun just popping into each cafe or shop and checked out the food and things on sale.

We also took a bus to Mt Yufudake and that was an experience into the outback. The scenery was breath-taking and it was a pity we had no time to venture very far, which was not a good idea if you are not dressed properly. We did a conservative hike up to get a general view and had to leave before it got dark. We had to catch the bus at 5ish pm but we got a nice view of sunset. It was really cold quickly too. A pity most shops closed by 6pm and there was nothing much to do by then. I would definitely stayed over longer, If I do pass by again!

“Yufuin, The splendid town”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

We spent almost 2 days in Yufuin, it was a fabulous time there, many cafes and boutiques and bunch of travelers, you can find it's an antique and also onsen town which you can relax around, my most impressive thing was the Yufu Mt. it's so beautiful as you might take many photo shots of it just like me ^^ and also don't miss the lake "kinrinko" it's actually located at the end of the town's main walking route. But actually it's really a small town as you may spend just a day trip around the town or you could spend a night with an onsen resort as well.

“Beautiful scenery, charming town”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

We spent two nights in Yufuin. The town is very tiny -- we walked every street multiple times! There are many shops for the tourists who come here. We did not find as many art or craft galleries as we had expected. The train ride from Fukuoka was very scenic and a fun part of our excursion.
