We had a nice stay in Miyama after the busy city life in Tokyo and Kyoto. Nice traditional house with modern bathrooms. We loved the walk in the woods to pick some herbs for dinner and to sleep on the futons with very comfortable bedding. Very friendly and fun family that took great care of us. Not to far from Kyoto and easy to find with gps and some help from the staff. You can bring your own dinner or cook together with some ladies like we did. We don't speak or understand any Japanese but that was no problem at all. If you have an extra day in Kyoto I can recommend you to go out in countryside and stay in an old traditional house.
The only negative is that it is bit close to the road, but we sleept very well anyway.

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay here in Miyama.
It's nice to be off the busy world to countryside.
We have another cottage called Kaya Villa and it doesn't face any roads.
You can hear just sound of nature at night.
Please stay at Kaya Villa when you come back to Miyama.

9 of us had the chance to stay for a night at Miyama Futon & Breakfast and place is breathtaking. The building itself is an eye opener for us and our short stay showed us a new side of Japan. The 水琴 is a must try! The well equipped kitchen and facilities helped us to enjoy our stay as we whipped up a feast and cycled around the pretty little town. We were lucky to still get a glimpse of the cherry blossoms in late April. This place is definitely worth the price and it will be best to stay at least 3 nights to fully enjoy the beauty of this peaceful town. Good for large group of friends and family to get away from boring concrete walls.

PS: Thank you Max! It was nice meeting you and the lovely owner!

Miyama is a small and quiet villlage. It is very good experience to stay in the village especially with kids.We are from foreign. My children have seen and learnt a lot from the farmstay.Worth taking them along. With the friendly accompaniment of the owner and staff, our stayed is even more meaningful. No doubt about that service is good. They are very helpful.Transportation is not very convenient.
