I would thoroughly recommend staying at Kaiyu Inn. There are great views of an excellent beach from all the rooms. And the rooms and facilities are very nice. The rooms are in an original 1960s-style.More

We had a great time at the Kaiyu-inn. It is a special place with very creative people. You receive a warm welcome and have a great opportunity to get to know some people (and their culture). The food is superb and prepared with love. We did some snorkeling and swimming for which this place is perfect due to its direct location at the beautiful Okinohama beach. The rooms breath a very chill vibe, which gives you the perfect holiday feeling.
When you travel by public transport make sure you carry enough cash because the nearest town with an ATM is approx. 5 km away and busses don't go often. It's quite remote and it will take some time to get their with public transport. But its definitely worth it; one of the best memories of our vacation ;)
Ruud k san thank you very much for everything that was fun time and we are very happy to here your great comments hope see you again !!
The Kaiyu is the perfect spot for visitors to Ashizuri Cape, Tosashimizu City & surrounding area.
It features condo style accommodation at reasonable prices, well suited for long term stays. It's beautiful natural setting looks out to gorgeous views of the Pacific, famous Oki Beach & beautiful mountain scenery. At night we could see the lighthouse flashing across the bay at Ashizuri Cape.
We stayed for 18 days in April 2014 and fell in love with the place. It's such a peaceful natural setting with the added bonus of a top notch spa with wonderful natural hot springs which felt marvelous at the end of a long day. The exceptional hospitality of the owners Mitsu & Tae made us feel right at home. Good bus service into Tosashimizu or Nakamura JR station stops right at the Kaiyu. We highly recommend a stay here. We'll be going back!

Terry san thnak you very much for staying with us 18days ! you are always gentle and smiling
you make good peaceful atmosphere around kaiyu see you next year !!
Unfortunately we only had one night at the Kaiyu inn. It was the highlight of our golden week. Mitsu-San very kindly included the four of us at the group dinner. It was a magnificent feast of many many dishes. We were introduced to all the other guests at the table for 23 by playing some fun games. Early the following morning we arranged to meet up with a lovely young family whom we met the night before. We ventured down to the beautiful beach for a swim and even catching a few waves.
The rooms are both fun and comfortable with wonderful views. Well done Mitsu -San.
Dina san thank you very much for worm comments and at dinner all harmony atmosphere make all guest like you ! that was wonderful time isn't it !
well we will try to more and more happy worm place!
see you again!!
thank you again !
I had read many good reports about Kaiyu and it is certainly a unique and special experience. The setting is lovely looking out across Okinohama beach. The owner Mitsu-san and his family provide a relaxed, warm and friendly environment which is more like staying with old friends than a formal hotel. We had dinner sitting around a central fireplace, and the food was sensational: fresh, healthy and delicious. The special onsen is not to be missed especially if you are doing the pilgrimage and your aching muscles and feet need attention. I had a lovely large room overlooking the sea. The decor is a retro (recycled) eco-friendly style - just how I would do my home if I had the time and the artistic talent. I wished I had booked two nights instead of one - I certainly would consider going back for a long term stay. For Henro pilgrims it is worth consulting their website and planning your trip between Temple 37 and 38 around a stay at Kaiyu just to be refreshed and inspired.
Marie san !! thank you so much for wonderful worm comments that was lovely dinner time !!
well hope you are having OHERO trip !!
see you again!!
A stay at Mitsu & Tae Okada's very unique eco-lodge, Kaiyu, will restore your soul and renew your faith in humanity. Mitsu has used recycled wood that people bring him to construct the furniture in the big communal room. This wood also stokes the furnace that heats the lovely onsen. Tae's cooking, made from local organic foods, is delicious & beautiful to look at. Both of these gracious and artistic people will make you feel entirely at home with them and yourself the moment you set foot in their special lodge.
Kaiyu is located on the semi-tropical southwest side of Shikoku Island, overlooking a lovely bay of the Pacific Ocean. Our room was spacious & modern, with a private balcony facing the water. As if to make the point that this place is entirely magical, our first morning there we were greeted by an expansive double rainbow set against the mountains in the near distance and a rooster crowing down the road.
Joan san thank you so much for wonderful comets that was grate time and I really like which way you thought me Yoga ! hope see you next year !!
