We made a visit to Kareigawa Station by taking Express JR train ‘Hayato-no-Kaze’, running only twice a day. This wooden station was a heritage from 1903.The train had a 5 minute brief stop here allowing passengers to rush off for photo shooting. Antique remnants were displayed inside the station. Bento made with local harvest would be available for sale on weekend if you could catch it. Remember to get back the train on time, or you would become part of the tourist scene in this historical architecture. During the train ride, explosive Sakurajima emitting grey cloud of volcano ashes into sky could be well seen in good weather.
