Hotel Senshukaku is one of the trio hotel chain (along with Hotel Hanamaki and Hotel Koyokan) in Hanamaki Onsen where the three of them uniquely share common facilities, and are easily the most significant in the vicinity. Although it may be the cheapest among them, it does not necessary mean it’s inferior. In fact, I was staying at Hotel Senshukaku, but my free breakfast was actually in Hotel Hanamaki’s Sakura Restaurant for the package I booked.
Let me start by elaborating getting there.
Collectively known as Hanamaki Onsen, the vicinity is about 20 minutes drive away from Shin-Hanamaki station. Most patrons come here via Shinkansen, as such, together with the other two franchise (as well as Keishoen, which is located a little further away, and somewhat disengaged from the trio) the hotel provides free shuttle service to-and-fro Shin-Hanamaki station. Patrons coming by Tohoku Main Line can either take a local bus from Hanamaki station to the hotel directly, or transfer a train to Shin-Hanamaki station for the free shuttle service. However, note that there are only 3 free shuttle bus time slots daily from 3pm onwards to Hanamaki Onsen (Return trip from 8.10am, depending on which hotel you are staying). There is also a hugh parking lot for those who drive.
Each of the three hotels has its own onsen, and patrons can visit anyone or all of them. Hotel Senshukaku has a rose bath for the ladies, and personally I found Hotel Koyokan has the best outdoor bath. So to speak, each of them has its own merits and they are all conveniently linked via an indoor passage. Each hotel also has its own souvenir shop, but they all sell identical souvenirs, snacks, beverages etc. Every night at 8.30pm, there will be a free performance at Hotel Koyokan lobby lasting no longer than an hour. Room wise, mine was absolutely spacious, although the furniture may be a little dated, we generally feel comfortable.
We visited during floral season, and the Rose Garden opposite the vicinity is worth a visit. We got a discount simply by mentioning that we are hotel patrons. There is also a shopping area just a couple of minutes walk down the road, selling mostly handicraft, local produces, café, restaurant etc, but most of them close at 6pm.
So much for the description, and I have to praise the service from the hotel staffs, in particular Chief of Inbound Support, Miss CHEN Mei Hui from the organisation’s General Reservation Dept’s Sales Division, for making repetitive trips to Shin-Hanamaki station to help me retrieve my lost belonging I carelessly left behind. It wasn’t their responsibility really, but their effort truly made me and my mum felt pampered and welcome. I guess that speaks how far they’d go to please hotel guests. Absolutely top notch service!

The hotel is quiet and relaxing. Rooms good and a great natural surroundings. The Onsen at this hotel is inside, however you can use the Onsen's at the other hotels in the complex and they are. Indoor/outdoor. What a great place to relax, my three days here not enough.

Located at the remote hilly region, most people come to just relax at the hot springs.
Rooms are big and comfortable, and of course clean.
There is a rose garden across from the hotel, to which we were give an entry coupon.
It was early August but the flowers are already withering, too bad.
Oh well, lets get back to the hotel.
There are several souvenir shops nearby, but no 24 hour convenient stores;
they close around 7 or 8.
So, after dark, you have only the hotel amenities to enjoy.
which means a hot dip in the springs, the primary objective.
Breakfast the next morning was also pretty good.
