We stayed here the night before doing a skydive at the nearby parachutre centre. Its basically a big pub with some rooms upstairs - nicely furnished and the bathrooms are fine (although there was a towel covering a wet patch on the carpet). Beds comfy, but we were woken up at six by the market setting up opposite - but we wanted to get up early anyway. Breakfast a hearty English. Basically, fine if you need to stay in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip. By the way, if you're doing a skydive make sure you get there by 7.30 (not 8) if you want to avoid a long wait.

Myself and two others stayed three nights thurs through sat. We were on business and would have liked to have been told of the deafening noise untill 1.30-2.00am!! We were finishing work at 7pm so needed a bite to eat after a shower (which were cold most of the time) We were then informed that under 18's had to leave by 7pm (my 16 yo son works with us). They were very apologetic and tried throwing us in a quiet corner. But, even so, how can a hotel be a hotel if the parents cannot have food with their children!!! Will NEVER go there again

Please note that this venue is now under new ownership and has undergone a £1.5million refurbishment. It's a completely different venue from when the previous reviewer visited.

Booked here last minute as we were visiting our daughter for the weekend. Now we know why it was the only place with any rooms left for miles around. It was disgraceful. The hotel has a nightclub in the carpark-which goes on till 2am and they ofc ourse smoke and queue up outside so you get no peace and quiet at all- tried to sleep through it - no chance -drunken revellers in the carpark all night and most of the rear rooms were directly over it- including ours!
The window was broken so you heard everything , paper peeling off the walls, old fixtures that were cracked and broken a bed that felt like wood- would have slept on the floor but this was worse - torn holes in it -disgusting! The hospitality tray was "thrown" together and the biscuits were literally broken in to bits! If you don't believe us see the pictures. The best bit was the breakfast which was hot/tasty and served by polite friendly staff. Shame you could not say that about the booking in procedure, no-one to greet you, the signing in book fell apart- we were asked to go to the bar to sign in and there was dog wandering around the back of the bar serving area, the owner YELLED at it to get out!
This building could be totally charming as the sloping floors all add to the charm of this old coaching inn, shame the rooms are so disgraceful (we were in room 21 on the top floor) the house bathroom we passed on the floor below -some rooms must notbe en-suite?) was a disgrace, the paper was peeling off the wall above the PINK bath and the carpet around the toilet was BLACK with mould/stain -YUK!
We would have complained when we went to pay the bill but the person who took our money did not bother to even ask if we had enjoyed our stay - where is the customer service here? So we walked out in disgust, they probably no longer ask because they know the answers.
Yes we have complained to the hotel email and the hotel accomodation sites that recommend this - but as yet have not had a response. Surprisingly they have AA and RAC on their receipts but you cannot find them listed as recommended on these sites! I wonder why?
Do not touch this place with your hard earned money=You could not pay us £60 to stay here again! Wish we had slept in the car - we feel totally ripped off!
