“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2014

We went on a Thursday evening at 7.15, the restaurant was full. I am glad we booked a table. There was 3 of us, we decided to have a pizza between us as a starter. It was very hot, fresh and tasted good. For mains we all had the rib eye steak (£17.95). 2 cooked medium and one medium rare, cooked to perfection. The only thing that let the meal down was the fries, they were very thin, smaller than McDonalds. I believe a restaurant should cook fries/chips from properly and not take short cuts with the frozen variety. The staff very very friendly and attentive.Given a choice of Strada or Prezzo, I would go to Strada

“Disgraceful service, poor food - never again!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

We had had poor experiences at this outlet before and have avoided it for a long time but because we'd been bought a Voucher as a present we thought we'd give it another go - sadly it seems nothing has changed and we regret going back there even to spend our Voucher.

We booked a table on a Sunday afternoon at 3.00pm and it turned out that we were only one of about three tables occupied in the large restaurant that probably has about 20 - 25 tables - well at least we would get good service we thought - mmmmm, No!

Lousy service, left sitting there for ages on end before the waitress's came to see if we wanted anything and the best bit was that we were told that any dish containing Mushrooms was off as they'd "run out of Mushrooms" (can you believe it, an empty Itailian Restaurant that has run out of Mushrooms?, a staple of most Italian dishes meaning many of the dishes were not available????) so we suggested that Waitrose was still open so why not send the Chef up there to get some but we were told No, that wasn't an option so we were already limited to a greatly reduced menu?

After waiting an excessive time for our food (bearing in mind we were only one of three tables occupied out of about 20 tables) the food arrived but it was definitely NOT worth the wait. My food was cold and had to be sent back (presumably to be microwaved) and one of our party who ordered a "Medium Rare" Steak was presented with an insult of a meal - the steak was so overdone it was curling up at the edges so that went back too - and remember, they only had to look after three tables out of a possible 20 - 25 - God help them if they were full????

We had already eaten our meals when eventually the Steak came back - this time it was done properly to how it was originally ordered BUT it was not enjoyed by the Diner as by this time we had already eaten ours so we all sat there watching him eat it - not good?

Add this to the fact that I paid over £11 for a pasta dish that was supposed to contain sausage and yet contained such a measly amount of pieces of sausage that if put back together would probably amount to half a normal sausage mixed in with a minimal amount of pasta and the whole experience was a joke - I left not feeling like I had had a proper meal and ended up snacking when I got home - in my view a total rip off

To be fair, they realised we were not happy and did knock money off the bill without us asking but even then the amount we paid for such a diabolical experience was far too much considering the poor experience we had

I can't cooment on other Strada outlets but my advice is avoid this restaurant, I will never here again - in my opinion you would be much better satisfied spending your money with one of the superb gastro pubs in the town such as the Coach & Horses who serve vastly better food with much better service at a fraction of the cost of this rip off place

“Slow service for a quiet restaurant ”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

First Saturday of the new year and it's not too busy at 7:15pm, but the staff really struggled with keeping on top of our orders and seemed very laid back about the whole thing. It took a long time for our food to arrive and it didn't arrive all at once. The waitress apologised and offered us free dessert. For 11 of us to eat it too over 3 hours. Too long for a Saturday evening. Some of the food was when it arrived. Unfortunately I won't be returning.

“Christmas Day at Strada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2014

We decided that as we did not want to cook on Christmas Day this year we would find a restaurant that was local and was open.
We were pleased that our local Strada restaurant was open that day so we booked for lunch.
The restaurant was not full but that didn't bother us at all. We were met at the door and shown to our table. Bread and olives were given to us as soon as we had sat down. We were not rushed to order our food but once we had chosen what we wanted we did not have to wait long before it arrived.
The service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff who were all very friendly considering this was Christmas Day and they had to work!!
The starters, main meal and dessert were delicious and it was fantastic that we did not have to do any cooking or clearing up afterwards.
I'm hoping that this restaurant will be open again next Christmas as I will definitely return again to celebrate.
Thank you for a lovely Christmas lunch.
