“Perfect friendly hotel/b&b for city centre & airport”
Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here after a long haul flight and were really grateful that we were able to check in to our room early (Thank-you very much for this!). After reading some reviews we booked the larger of the rooms, and stayed in room 1. The room was spacious and although fresh and large, it still had a homely feel. The room was not one of the newly refurbished rooms and I think if I stayed again I would prefer to stay in one of those as our room was a little 'traditional' for us, although you can't expect much different from a fabulous older building. The staff all seemed friendly and the atmosphere in the hotel was very cosy. Perfect for a night in Manchester.

Pro's:
-15 minute walk from the tram station, £3.80 return into Manchester, which was great for the Christmas markets!
-breakfast was lovely and well worth the added £8
-friendly staff and friendly atmosphere in bar and restaurants.
-we didn't hear any other visitors in the hotel whilst sleeping.

Con's
- The radiator in our room didn't work, and the room was absolutely freezing, unfortunately making it difficult to sleep, even with extra jumper and socks!
-The shower in room 1 wasn't very powerful, and took a while to run hot water.

Overall the hotel was good value for what we wanted. The friendliness and accommodating staff made it a nice overnight stay after coming back from our holiday. Only 15 minutes away from the airport made it easily accessible.

So this was my 3rd Stay at the Eskdale Lodge.
I arrived Friday night around 10:30PM and was upgraded to a nice big room.
The greeting is always lovely and the rooms are nice clean and make you feel comfortable like you are at home.
The bathrooms are new, bright and modern and supplied with shampoo, shower gel and a sowing kit.
The breakfast is extremely tasty.
Really cannot fault this hotel.

Another fantastic stay
A friendly welcome , very reasonably priced, it looks like room 5 which I stayed in has just been refurbished.
The shower room is very modern with the shower good pressure.
Bottled mineral water and a few sweeties provided in the room was greatly appreciated.
Breakfast was by far one of the best cooked breakfast and is superb value at only £7.95.
The bar was a really friendly bar with smiling staff, a good choice of drinks and reasonably priced.
The metro link is only a short distance away and is ideal for Ild Trafford.
I hope it will not be too long before I am back.

Was a really good small hotel, amazing value for money
Only downside that the bathroom didn't have a bath other than that it was a nice place the staff were very friendly and we had a very comfortable night.

This small hotel is very popular so you need to book as early as you can to get a good room. The charge is for room only and you pay extra for breakfast. The rooms are well equipped with tea and coffee facilities. The first room we had for two nights was no 1 which was a good size (a bit more expensive) and was quiet away from the road overlooking the garden. It was spacious and clean with a shower over a bath. There are ample toiletries in the bathroom. I would book this room again. However as the hotel was fully booked, (we had been warned of this when we booked) we had to move to room 9 (cheaper) for the next two nights which is an attic room at the back. It has two single beds. This room 9 was well furnished and clean but small with a very small bathroom with walls that needed redecorating. I would not want to stay in this room again.
The breakfast is excellent. Dinner was equally as good. I would eat here again.
My only complaint about the hotel was that I was cold but when asked they did turn on the heating for us.

Room Tip: Room 1 is spacious. Room 9 is small. Both rooms are at the back of the hotel and quiet.

I stayed on business, it was perfect as its outside the city centre. Plenty of parking but I did stay during the week.

The rooms are functional but comfortable. The bar area is friendly, shame I have given up drink.

I ate there in the evening, it is pub food with not a great vegetarian selection. The breakfast was really good (again no veggie sausages).

Stayed one night after delivering my son to university. Based in a quiet residential area of Manchester. Comfortable rooms with tea, coffee and biscuits along with welcoming staff make this a recommended and reasonably priced hotel.
