Description: The Fat Loaf restaurant in Sale is an absolute find and a local favourite. The brainchild of chefs Paul Taylor and Tim Wood who trained under Michelin-starred Marco Pierre White at the Lowry, The Fat Loaf is a brilliant bistro. The open kitchen lets you watch them work. Sourcing is taken seriously – local wherever possible, excellent at all times. The menu is modern European prepared with imagination and flair. It’s perfectly set in a storefront restaurant with slate floors, white chairs, neutrally coloured walls and an array of art photography on display. Formerly a bring-your-own-wine place, The Fat Loaf now offers a short, thoughtful, international wines list at prices so reasonable you’ll have to blink

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2011

We've been many times over the years. Always been happy with the staff and food. It's great food without the pretentiousness of some "posh" restaurants. They get the balance right for me between presentation, quality and size of portions. The art of the presentation does not mean that the quality of the food or the quantity is compromised. In most recent visits it hasn't been full, which probably speaks of the impact of the recession on spending. But I don't need a full restaurant or blaring music for the buzz of a night out. Might feel a bit austere for some though.
If you like good food I thoroughly recommend this restaurant

“Great consistent Bistro food - and friendly too”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2011

Have eaten here many times and it consistently serves up flavoursome quality food. Good atmosphere with open kitchen and friendly staff who also take time out to make my octogenarian ma & pa feel really welcomed. Love the Sea Bass dishes which always let the great fish taste come through. Have even tried to copy some of their ideas in my own recipes (with varying success). Always seems a nice crowd here, plenty of laughter, and the new decor adds warmth. Heavily recommended.

“Indifferent service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2011

The food was just about okay. The restaurant is very bare with hard seats. The prices are not bad but I would not return.
