“Customer Service Training Required”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

Arrived, on a Sunday, shortly after 4pm (check in is 4pm) and our room wasn't ready. This was surprising since the resort was at low occupancy. After voicing my displeasure I was given 10% off of the first night and a 2hr late checkout. I had to complain to receive this offer and the guy at the desk did not seem to appreciate doing it.
Upon departure I dropped off the room keys and asked for a final bill. The lady told me the amount that was going to be charged and I asked if the 10% discount had been applied. She said no and informed me that nothing was documented in the account. I told her that I was given a 10% discount due to the late check in. She again repeated that nothing was documented in the account. I assured her that was the deal that I had come to with the gentleman who checked me in. She then started to grill me by asking questions, in a nasty tone, about the name of the man who served me. When did it happen, etc... I told her to check the system for answers. She then proceeded to apply the discount. I asked her for a copy of the bill. She confirmed my e-mail address and told me she had sent it. 24hrs later I still have not received it.
The overall vacation time spent with the family in the "Blue Mountains" area was awesome. Unfortunately my only 2 interactions with the staff, at the inn, were negative. A firm and clear policy regarding check-in times needs to be implemented by Management that is clear to it's staff.

We tried the Blue Mountain Inn hotel as we'd received a 20% discount online. I'd researched it online prior to our stay & it was well positioned in the Blue Mountain area. BUT our stay was ruined after our air conditioning unit set off the smoke alarm in our room...twice in the small hours! and when eating at The Pottery Restuarant on site it took them an hour to deliver two basic entrees. Overall not impressed. And would never stay there again.
We overheard another guest at the hotel had bigger problems than us though—he had bugs flying into his room through a hole in the exterior wall!

Dear Mishmashhashtag,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent visit to Blue Mountain Resort, we regret that you did not enjoy your stay and assure you this is not the intended outcome. Your comments prompted us to scan over a number of past & present reviews and as one expects there is mixed feedback with many very happy and satisfied guests and of course others that were less impressed. We can appreciate your frustration with a mechanical failure disrupting you in the night and assure you this was an unexpected incident. We trust our engineering associates were able to provide assistance and restore your air conditioning to proper working order. It is even more surprising to learn of the service issue you encountered in the Pottery Restaurant, generally speaking we hear such wonderful comments in regards to the food and service at this location. We will be sure to share your comments with all associates to avoid a repeat of this service in the future.

Dear Claudette T,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback and post a review of your recent experience staying at the Blue Mountain Inn. Needless to say a timely check-in is very important when one is travelling and we share your disappointment that we did not achieve our goal of a 4pm check on the day you were arriving. We will be sure to review our productivity reports over the Canada Day long weekend with all associates in this department. We are delighted to hear you otherwise thoroughly enjoyed the Village and your visit to the Scandinave Spa.

stayed for 2 nights. Our room was not ready when we got there around 12:30, check in is a 3Pm the Inn was quite so we got a comp upgrade to a suite. Small but very nice, needs an upgrade. Small fridge in the room. Surprised but there were no utensles. We ate in the room the restaurant in the Inn provide us with nice plates as well as knives and forks. Room was very clean and well kept. An indoor pool and 5 outdoor hot tubs in a very nice patio area. The breakfast was fantastic on both days with lots of great choices. The front desk staff was fantastic and need to be recognized. I had a few business things that I had to deal with. Instead of just saying go use the business centre the young lady at the front desk scanned and e-mailed documents to my office without a problem. Overall a great stay.

Room Tip: only 2 small suites at the Inn

Dear Andy G,

Thank you Andy, this review is very much appreciated and will benefit many Trip Advisor readers when making their travel plans to our area. The Inn is just a short walk to the Village and many activities and the only hotel on resort with an indoor pool, glad you enjoyed it. The Inn is home to the Pottery and Jozos restaurants, we’re glad you had the chance to dine at the Pottery and thoroughly enjoyed their fine breakfast options. Thank you for acknowledging our front desk associates; they will be rewarded when viewing your comments praising their efforts.

I stayed for 2 nights in here with a friend of mine.

The hotel is generally nice from inside, nice pool table and breakfast section (surcharge). Nice bedding but Not so special for the price paid. Clean washrooms and working LED TV with nice Picture.

Location is Far away from Collingwood downtown. basically it's in the middle of the no where close to the Caves. there is a deadly boring village beside the hotel but not good enough. You need a car as you're surrounded with mountains and nature. Even restaurants don't deliver to this location except Pizza Pizza and some few options. I personally liked the breakfast, it tasted rich and good.

We've noticed that this hotel doesn't have that much of guests during the year for some reasons. We felt very lonely not able to see people around us in the hole way.

Nothing is so special to justify the price bracket!!!

Dear Mohamad87,

Thank you for your feedback following your visit to Blue Mountain Resort earlier this spring. The Inn is located right at the base of the ski hills and approximately a 5 minute walk to the Village and about 10 minutes by car if you wish to visit the town of Collingwood. Quite often it is the remote location and natural beauty of our surroundings that appeals to our guests, natural hiking trails and picturesque views from atop of the ski hills are often mentioned in guest reviews. The Village is home to a wide range of retail and dining outlets as well as many activities. Perhaps you will have an opportunity to return during one of our many scheduled events and experience the buzz of the Village and resort in general.

I came here with my family for a work conference. The Blue Mountain Inn and Resort is wonderful! From the moment you pull up and see the mountains looming above you, you know you will have a lovely time,. We stayed at the Grand Georgian, which is one of the resorts at Blue Mountain Inn. The desk clerk was pleasant and knowledgeable. The hotel suite was much nicer than I had anticipated. It was huge, clean, had a full kitchen, and a separate bedroom with two sofa beds. The bathroom was huge and our balcony overlooked the pool. The kids loved the heated outdoor pool. The village itself is what blew us away. It was just a step away, literally in our backyard and had a plethora of stores and restaurants. The cobble stone street is quaint and attractive. My mom loved it and she is not easy to please! She is ready for another visit! The attractions are great too. We loved the mountain roller coaster, the gondola to the top of the mountain and my son also did zip lining for the first time. They also have wall-climbing and tree-topping. Amazing place! A gem for sure!

Room Tip: Next time, we hope to get a room facing the village so we can sit on our balcony and enjoy the festi...

Dear zeekitti,

Thank you, we’re glad you were able to combine a work related trip with some family time at Blue Mountain Resort. Our location is ideal for a nature based getaway, full of activity, beautiful scenery, great food, unique retail options and leisurely strolls. Although this review is posted on our Blue Mountain Inn location, it appears that you stayed in a Village suite and would not want to confuse a future guest with the kitchen and balcony options (not available at the Inn), but we are glad you enjoyed these features. We really enjoyed your remark about your mom’s seal of approval, it’s always nice to hear, when even the most discerning of guests, thoroughly enjoys a visit to Blue.

We recently had a 4 day and 3 night night conference here. We took up 80% of the hotels rooms and their main conference facilities. While one could expect challenges to come up.... the staff across the board was prepared and treated us great. We have held many conferences across Canada and this facility and the people there have jumped to the top in my estimation. One word summarizes our experience there.... Outstanding!

Room Tip: We had the full range of rooms from Double Beds to the One Bedroom Suite.... all were comfortable an...
