If you feel like a bit of a hike in the forest away from the crowds then this will suit you, but be warned that the walk from the end of the ropeway to the top is about 30 minute of mainly uphill walking including stairs. With this in mind take the free shuttle up from the town area to the start of the ropeway (you may as well conserve your energy) If you choose to walk it will take 6-8 minutes. The ride up starts of in a small car (4 person) with a transfer to a larger gondola for the final section. The views were fantastic, although it was a little hazy. The path at the top is mainly sealed but with some uneven sections and wobbly stairs. There are various shrines dotted along the way, adding interest to the walk. Then of course there are deer around who will mug you for your food given half a chance. You can walk down, but knowing we still had lots of walking to do over the next few days we again took the ropeway. At the bottom it is a pleasant (downhill) stroll through pretty gardens back to the shopping area.
