Great view from the top, we climbed in December -thus cold but warmed up as it was not a short climb (2-3 hours total). You can use cable car but need to climb up afterwards to the top. The restaurant and view tower is not well maintained though. It's a good way to enjoy whole Miyajima to do a hike.

We took the trams up. It is still a 30 min hike from the last rram to the top. There are deer (bucks with horns) along the way. They are extremely friendly, they will pick your pocket and eat your lunch. They can be a bit agressive if you feed tehm, so that is not advised. At the top there is noodles, ice cream, soda, coffee and hungry deer. We walked the hour and a half down the path, it was all stairs. I would not adive going up that way unless you really want a strnuous hike. You can see all of hiroshima from the top.

You can catch a ropeway to the top of the mountain, but the hike up isn't too difficult, and has lots of great views of surrounds. The peak has very interesting rocks and it's fun to see the deer making it all the way up as well!

Miyajima is a short ferry ride away from the clutter of the greater Hiroshima area. Like most natural spots in Japan, it's a bit over-engineered. And it can get crowded on weekends and holidays. But in Spring, during the cherry blossom season and in the autumn when the leaves change, this is one of the places I frequent to recharge my batteries. The climb to the top of Misen is a a bit challenging if you've stopped at the Momojidani Park cafe for some oysters and a beer. (Sometimes I just can't hold back until I come back down.)
But go for it and enjoy the view.

We went up in the rope car and walked down. Paths were easy to use. Great walk. Only disappointment was platform at the top was tatty. Could do with a lick of paint
