When we went, there weren't a lot of people and we only need to wait 15 mins to get in. Hint: if you have bought Visit Hiroshima Tourist Pass", the rice is half price from 2000yen to 1000 yen. What a bargain!!

Go early if you want to eat here. The restaurant opens at 10am. We arrived at 10:30am and there was already a half hour wait. We decided to buy a Bento to eat at Miyajima. Rice was flavourful and the Anago was grilled just right. Only down side is that being a Bento it was not warm.

I visited this old established Anago restaurant on weekday for lunch. I arrived there at 1.30pm, but already over 100 people waited. A staff gave a number card, and I waited for 1 hour at waiting room where was next to the restaurant. After that, a staff called my number. We sat a table and ordered two anago bowls. Only few minutes later Anago bowls came, and I felt so short. Anago was very good flavor, and rice was cooked with Anago soup. I felt it was cooked with good quality ingredients. But it costed over 1700yen. I am a Japanese food lover, so I felt OK for its cost. But many people may feel a bit pricey.

Grilled anago was good. 2 hour wait for a table and loooong line just to get to-go boxes. Final verdict: No great shakes. Not worth the hype. Of course considering the pool of options in the area, it may well have been better than the rest. In my opinion, best to make a day trip of Hiroshima and plan to stay and dine in Osaka.

first you write down you name, no. of people, no. of box you want, then wait around. we might have been waited 30-40min.
it's a beautiful box with rice and anago, both are very good.
we were not very well with chopsticks, the staff offers us spoon ;-)
next day we had anago in mame-tanuki on miyajiya, the anago is steamed instead of grilled, I prefer the grilled one. Love it here.
