“This place really made our holiday and that of our kids perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

Way stayed at the top floor apartment with five (two adults, three kids). The apartment is spacious and the 1000-year old house itself is very beautifully restored (some restoration work is still being done). The surroundings are great, national park, wildlife. We saw a family of boar roam the property. Our apartment had a kitchen, but please don't use it. Mara is an excellent cook and dinner was one of the highlights each day. Our daughter and Mara had a great click and she was allowed to help Mara in the kitchen and pick fresh produce and herbs off the land. This was a rare and much appreciated added bonus. I would go there again and recommend it to my friends.

Fantastic place with a beautiful landscape, a delight owners of producing a family atmosphere, delicious Tuscan dinners prepared by the host, a cozy room with a clean bathroom and a well-kept garden with swimming pool. We recommend both for stationary outdoor recreation as well as a base for exploring the region. We will do everything to get back! Greetings from Poland to the lovely owners!

I fell in love with the place even before visiting, just looking at the surroundings and the villa itself. The reality is even more spectacular - the location, the casa itself, the pool, the food, and, of course, the hosts - Mara, Fabrizzio, and Roberto. They all made our stay simply fantastic! The original plan was to use the kitchen to cook for ourselves, but after the first dinner that lasted, like the following ones, for 2.5 hours, we changed our minds and for five nights in a row enjoyed the five courses (!) in a warm atmosphere, even if we didn't speak Italian. That was our only regret, but, fortunately, among guests there were quite a few English speaking travelers. But even with the minimum of Italian and English, we loved it all! I returned home with a stylish haircut Mara gave me!
My husband and I stayed in Europe for 17 days, visiting Prague, Cesky Krumlov, Austria, other parts of Italy, and yet, Casa Casentino beat it all! Simply amazing! If most places in Tuscany are like this, I'm truly lost... Hope to return someday!

Room Tip: Any room, really!

This Agriturismo is a must when visiting the Casentino region. The National Park is just around the corner, with great mountain hikes starting from the nearby Camaldolese monastery ( Be shure to buy a map before you start) Our appartment was very luxurious with a kitchen and a beautiful view down the valley towards Soci. If you want to get in touch with the big city feel and satisfy some of your shopping needs. Arezzo is just a 40 minutes drive away. Guido and Elida are very nice people. The food Elida cooked was wonderful. It was a pity we could enjoy it only once.
The only downturn I could think of is that the water has a bit of a sulfurous smell, but the good news is that you get a spa treatment for free in that way! Looking forward to return to this beautiful place.

Having stayed many times in this type of accommodation in Italy, I have to say that it doesn't get much better than Agriturismo Casentino. Our apartment for two couples had a huge common area with kitchenette, two bedrooms , two bathrooms and a balcony with views over the valley. The proprietors Guido and Elida see to your every need including itinerary planning and meal preparation--they really take care of their guests.
The setting is stunning. The property is nestled on a hillside with mountains above that are are part of the Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi. Indeed, we spotted a cinghiale (wild boar) less than 200 meters from our front door. Though we loved hiking the well marked trails of the park, we equally enjoyed the proximity of nearby villages, religious sanctuaries and the not to be missed fantastic city of Arezzo. This part of Tuscany is neglected by most tourists for some inexplicable reason but it won't be long before the secret is out for this is a truly fascinating region.
And the best part (along with the pool which we used every day): Incredible value for the money. Highly recommended.

This was sadly only an overnight visit during a short tour of some more obscure Tuscany hilltowns arranged by my daughter-in-law for my birthday. Accommodations are housed in a three-story restored 11th century monastery. Historical authenticity extends from the creaking floors, old hewn sink, and well-worn steps of the agriturismo itself to the surrounding forest preserve, deemed one of Europe's most beautiful and bio-diverse(and also known as "Dante's forest"), home to the 1000-year-old Sacro Eremo di Camaldoli up the road a few kilometers.

Rooms are clean and well-appointed, the common room (one for two rooms) commodious and comfortable, and the views from the covered terrace astounding.

Dinner at €25.00 each was local and traditional: antipasti of mixed bruschetta, ribollita Toscana soup of "black" cabbage and proscuitto, whole grain pasta from wheat ground nearby with a ragu of rabbit, veal and pork, duck cooked ala porchetta — well-spiced and succulent —fennel pie, and salad.

The owners were friendly, accommodating, and informative. I would like to have come to know them better. I can't recommend this place enough for those looking for a rustic but comfortable experience in the heart of Tuscany. Those looking for fitness centers, room and turn-down service may want to look closer to Arezzo proper.

Room Tip: I'd try for a room with a view (along the front).
