This hotel is definitely not as modern as its brand would suggest: from the bulky mono CRT TV-set (although at least it's got Freeview), to the mechanical door lock with traditional keys (I thought the electronic lock and card was standard nowadays, but might be wrong), the clunky wooden window frames and the separate taps for hot and cold water in the washbasin (how annoying). The furniture too showed its age: the carpet was raised in one place (I almost tripped over once) and even the toilet bowl was wobbly!
Beware of the odd rooms from No. 1 to 7: they are below street level and overlook - or rather under-look - the line of cars at the Burger King drive-thru, just meters away; don't expect a great deal of privacy, unless you keep your curtains pulled! Ask for a room on the first floor if you can.
Cleanliness was overall passable: bedsheets immaculate but carpet stained, all surfaces nicely dust-free, bathroom fairly clean but looking worn - like the whole place really. The staff was friendly though, also at the Beefeater restaurant next door.
Wireless connectivity was good, provided by Swisscom at a charge.
The location is functional, round the corner from a huge ASDA store, with plenty of fast-food options.
They advertise £29 per night, which would have made it good value for money, but I got that rate for one night only out of five, the rest were at £61 p/n, which is a bit overpriced, considering what you get.
Oh, and one night the fire alarm went off for nothing at 5:45am.
In conclusion, this hotel would definitely do with a refurbishment; until then I'd look for an alternative first.

The best thing about Cumbernauld is leaving. It is a depressing post war new town consisting of nothing one would wish ever to see again. There are roundabouts, roads, poor pedestrian facilities, a shopping centre, super markets (Farmfoods, Tesco, Asda) and several fast food outlets (Pizza Hut, Burger King, McDonalds, Dominoes). The Premier Inn is well situated within 5-10 minutes walk of all of this. There is an associated Beefeater for those so inclined. If you really have to stay overnight in Cumbernauld, the Premier inn offers fair value, clean, quiet rooms. Two small gripes: the pillows were rather cheap and uncomfortable, the fire detector is overly sensitive and was activated on the bathroom door being opened following a shower.

Very nice clean rooms, and bathrooms as well. The staff were very helpful and cheery.

The location is a ittle bit akward, and you get an aroma of Burger King starting their grills in the morning if you leave your window open.

For the price, you get what you pay for, and for that reason I have to recommend it. If I had paid over 3 figures for the room I would have been dissapointed, but only paid £30 for the night, and it was money well spent.

This hotel, typical of its kind, is situated next to a Beefeater. The staff were very friendly, welcoming us, offering to book a table in the restaurant. The room was standard size, with a very comfortable bed. It was scrupiously clean, with a small bathroom. Towels, soap and shower gel all provided.

The restaurant was clean, efficient and the staff could not be faulted.

Cumbernauld is not a nice place... im sorry but its true! and neither is this travel inn. Probobly because i booked a smoking room i was allocated a double on the ground floor over looking (well looking up to ) a burgerking drive thru. The window wasnt secure the bathroom hastily sealed, you could tell there was a lot of furniture missing from the empty space in the room. I also found the reception was uattended during the night, as a single female traveler i found this worrying. No food on site but with a pub next door, dominoes pizza , burger king and mcdonalds and asda as neighbours plenty of choice if you can put up with that food. Staff friendly and helpful, although did worry me by suggesting the method of payment discussed at my booking was not acceptable once i had arrived.
Overall alright although would not recomend for lone female travelers.
