Returned to Hotel Moc for another visit, and it continues to be a delight.
The rooms are large and comfortable, and this time we used the lounge area, to have a few post ski drinks with the friends we were traveling with. The lounge area does lack a bit of warmth, but it large and spacious.
The downstairs onsen is small, but functional.
The food is excellent, especially the dinners.
We had the Shibu-Shibu one evening and it was very, very good- recommended.
You just cannot beat the position of this hotel, Sachiko speaks very good English, Toko is seriously cute, and we will return next year!

We (a family of 5) stayed for 6 nights at Hotel Moc in January 2014. Our host Sachiko-san, her family and staff were very kind and helpful. We had a wonderful time here. Lots of advice and practical help arranging ski gear (right next door will be very accommodating to find gear which suits), restaurant bookings and travel before and during our stay. We were collected by the team from the railway station and dropped back when we left, which was very kind given that we had a bit of luggage and had been travelling all day. Reasonable price. Good breakfasts which varied during our stay. Plenty of opportunities to meet the other guests, which we really enjoyed. Rooms clean and comfortable, a mix of tatami space and western, with plenty of space to relax. Lovely outlook towards Mt Myoko, ski fields and over the village from our rooms. A bit of a walk to the main town, but taxis available at a reasonable cost if needed. In any event the walk is pleasant and it's worth the effort as there are some great little restaurants in the village. The cafe next door serves amazing pancakes and curries as well as the best coffee. There was a lovely little traditional restaurant, the Red Lantern very close by and meals are served at the hotel if you want a night in. Our son loved the crepes at the convenience store which was well stocked and very close by - there was a lovely friendly shopkeeper there too. Hotel Moc is well located close to the gondola for experienced independent skiers, though those intending to have lessons with Myoko snow sports (English speaking instructors - excellent ski school for all abilities, especially children) may find the morning walk up the slight hill daunting - however, if you are organised you can catch a free shuttle bus (ask Sachiko-San she will be happy to help with the timetable). A highlight of our stay was the traditional Japanese feast which we had in the hotel restaurant - it was outstanding and very reasonably priced! Overall, for those looking for a relaxed, comfortable, reasonably priced more traditional Japanese ski experience, Myoko Kogen, and Hotel Moc in particular is an excellent option. Oh and don't forget to say hello to Sachiko-San's cute puppy, which has the most fantastic wardrobe!

We stayed at Hotel MOC in late Jan 2014 and had an awesome stay. Across the road from the gondola, with all facilities you need and amazingly friendly staff. Even a inhouse onsen to soak away all the bumps from a day on the mountain.

Situated across from the mountain and a 5 minute walk into town it is ideal!!

During our stay there were large groups and couples some who had been coming back for many years..............now we are also looking at trying to make a return visit in 2015.

We hope to return soon and couldn't recommend staying here more.

Thanks again MOC.

Room Tip: Top floor can either have mountain view or valley views

We stayed at Hotel MOC in December 2013. We had a lovely stay. Sachiko-san was very helpful and gave us advice pre-trip about where to hire ski equipment from. She also advised us on various restaurants while we stayed there. We did not find the walk to town too far as previous people have stated. The ski slopes are also amazingly close. The only issue that we had was the smoke smell in the corridors, but when we reported this, it was quickly dealt with.

Room Tip: TRy ask for a room a the end of the corridor.

Had the pleasure of Sachiko as our host in April this year. We had a 3 family group and all our needs (and more) were catered for.
The positon of Moc is ideal-a 30m stroll to the gondola !!!! Although it was end of season we had enough snow to keep us busy. The hotel is clean, well run and well organized. Nothing is a problem for the wonderful Sachiko and her family!!!
We dined out most nights and each night brought something new. Sachiko even took us to a local sushi restaurant and also to a chicken restaurant, locals only , no english.
Then to top it all off she held a party in our honour on the last night. What a wonderful, warm stay.
If you are going to Myoko. why woudnt you stay at Hotel Moc???
Thanks again so much Sachiko.
ps she also dropped all of us at the train station when we left.....

Hotel Moc is located very close to the ski slopes - across the road from the ski resort. But it is not so convenient for dining out at night as it is a good walk up to where most of the restaurants are located. There is a restaurant on site that you have to book one day before and there is a small izakaya around the corner. The rooms are quite large for Japanese hotel rooms but they could do with a little sprucing up/ updating. The most irritating thing here is that they allow people to smoke at the stairways so it travels up into the rooms above and a lot of the time it was the staff smoking late at night that filled the stair areas with smoke. They also need to do something about the smell in the toilets on the basement level. The owner of the hotel was so delightful and she looked after us very well. It was convenient that they had wireless Internet but it did not work in the room so we had to sit near the off- duty staff at night to be able to use the Internet. As chiko spoke very good English and she would be the main reason why we would return to this hotel.
